I’ve been working on a special project for my parents for a little while. They took an awesome trip to Canada last June that started in Vancouver and included a fabulous Canadian Rocky train ride. I’ve been working on the layouts in Scrapbook Artist 2, a digital scrapbooking software I actually won in a review/giveaway on Craft Critique. I have to say, I’m loving this software. I’ve even consider upgrading to Craft Artist, which Serif just released as their bigger better version, so if anyone needs birthday ideas (hint hint). There was a little bit of a learning curve since my previous digital scrapbooking was limited to Scrapblog, which is awesome, but you’re limited in layout size, paper/embellishments, and you can only purchase finished projects from them. My goal for my parent’s Canadian Rocky trip is a 12×12 bound book that I currently plan to order through ScrapbookPictures.com. I already ordered one of the completed layouts as a test for quality and I was very happy with the end result. I haven’t been working chronologically on this project, but the first three layouts I’m sharing today will be the first three in the book, not counting a cover type page.
This first layout is actually based on a sketch. I was stuck when determining picture placement and decided to browse my favorite sketch blogs. Here is the Sketchy Thursday 3.24 sketch. I was immediately inspired by it.
And here is my take on it. I rotated it. For a closer look, make sure and click on the picture.

Here’s a second Canada Place layout.

My Dad and I are a lot alike. We’re both shutterbugs and we both love travel planning. He provided me with a lot of travel planning info so I could include appropriate journalling, etc. Although, I haven’t figured out where the Olympic Torch photos in this next layout was actually located. Was it Canada Place as well? Because of that, this next layout isn’t quite done as I want to add a few words regarding location and how my parents felt when viewing it. I think it would be a pretty amazing thing to see in person, even if it was four months after the winter Olympics were actually held. This layout is also based on a sketch, Creative Scrappers Sketch #146.
Digikits Used: March of the Animals – The Scrapping Sisters, Wishes – The Scrapping Sisters
This last layout was actually finished before the first three. I really love how it turned out.
