On my way to the blogging world

I’ve become obsessed with blogs. I use Google Reader to help me stay up to date with all the blogs I read. Most of them are either crafts (specifically stamping) or food related. Here are just a few that I read: my friend Geeta’s Crafty Engineer, my friend Lori’s Crazy About Crafts, my friend Veronica’s QTPIECrafts, Lexi Daly’s Confetti, All That Scraps, The Hero Club Blog, Sugar & Spice, Jenny Bakes, Delish, and many more.

That said. I’ve decided that I want to write my own blog. It will be a mix of food, crafts and fun (whatever that may be at the moment). If you scroll down, you will notice some older posts. These were posted to my myspace blog and I decided to add them for posterity’s sake.

Pick Up Groups

Oh my gosh. The following video is hilarious. I am sure it is not that funny if you don’t play WOW, but I was rolling on the floor from laughing so hard. Enjoy!

BTW, my guild regularly runs Karazhan and sometimes it is tough to get all 10 people, but lately we’re kicking butt and taking names, so we’ve been able to 9-man and even 8-man parts of it.

Harry

So I went with my hubby and a group of friends to see the new Harry Potter movie tonight. OMG, it was really good. However, I do have some complaints.

  1. Umbridge was not toad-like looking enough. Other than that, I think Imelda Staunton did an excellent job of portraying Dolores Jane Umbridge.
  2. They left out a number of bits, specifically the older Weasley boys involvement with Fudge. Although, the movie being only 2.5 hours can’t possibly cover the many hundred pages the book covers.
  3. I guess that’s it.

You so have to see it. It is fantastic. Gosh, I need to reread all the book again. The next and last one comes out next week. Now, just to convince my hubby, who isn’t much of a reader, to read them.

Physical Therapy and Weak Muscles

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Don’t forget to put the stars and stripes out on your flagpoles tomorrow.

Well, it’s been 6 weeks since I was to get off crutches. I took about 2 weeks to wean myself off them, using them for longer walks or 1 crutch at times. After 2 weeks of walking completely without them, I still had a limp. This included a trip to 6th Street for my sister’s bachelorette party. Dr. Gueramy saw me walk into the exam room for a check-up and right away he saw that my hip muscles were still weak and he prescribed some physical therapy. Apparently, the leg muscles by your hip get weak when you cut through them to reach the femur to insert a titanium rod into it. Who would have thought?

So it’s been 2 weeks now, since I started physical therapy. Man, is it tough. Brant, my phsyical therapist, has given me 6 exercises to do at home every single day. Plus when I go to Sante Rehab for my appointments with him 3 times a week, I do some additional exercises. The elliptical machine is good for working on my gait. It’s really hard going backwards though. I have PT for another 4 weeks, we’ll see how that goes. Maybe by then, I’ll be running. (Highly doubtful, you’ll actually see me running, I’d rather speed walk.)

Lesson for the day: Be grateful for two properly working legs.

Well, I’m not off crutches yet.

I went to the doctor’s office yesterday for my 6 weeks post-op check-up. The bone is healing really well. When I went at 2 weeks, there was a noticeable gap where the bone was broken. Now it is just like a line drawn on the bone. I’m not completely off crutches, but I can now put weight on my leg. Dr. Gueramy said to get a bathroom scale and push on it with just my right leg until I got up to 50 pounds. That’s how much weight I can put on that leg. I had gotten to where I could zip along pretty fast for a gimp, but now I’m trying so hard to concentrate and not put too much weight that I’m back to being a slow poke. Putting weight on my leg will allow the bone to compress and finish the healing process. It’s kinda neat. I found out that the screw through the bone and titanium rod (it’s called a nail in medical talk) up by hip has a large hole, so the screw can slide up and down in this “pocket” as I put weight on my leg. Pretty cool. I go back in another 2 weeks and hopefully then I can get off crutches for good.
