Lonestar Shoebox Swap

Posted on October 8, 2011 by Jennifer

Today, my friend Lori and I are headed to Georgetown for the Lonestar Shoebox Swap. It is an all-day affair where we get to make 30 cards. This is the card I designed and prepped kits for people to make. It uses some of my most recent stamp purchases. I like how this sentiment could be used for a birthday card or as a more generic card. I was inspired by a recent Mojo Monday Sketch, #208, but it is not a square card.

Hope Your Day is a Gusher Card

Stamps: Deadbeat Designs Gusher (sentiment) and Pumpjack
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Basic Black, Wild Wasabi
Ink: Stazon Jet Black
Embellishments: AMuse stitched grosgrain ribbon, black brads
Tools: Stampin’ Up square lattice textured impressions embossing folder

I’m taking my camera to the swap, so hopefully I’ll have a photo of Lori and I to share soon.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Deadbeat Designs Class

Posted on August 20, 2011 by Jennifer

Thursday night, my friend Kristy and I went to a Deadbeat Designs class at Felicia’s Scrapbooks. I got to meet Mark, the owner/designer for Deadbeat Designs and one of the Texas Tuesday players (which I haven’t joined in with since moving). Lynn, the instructor, was great. We used some fun techniques and hopefully, I’ll use my set of chalks more now. I had a lot of fun.

Kristy and I With Our Favorite Projects

The class consisted of three projects. The first was a treat bag topper. The back of the topper is stamped with “You deserve some Chocolate!” and an image that could be considered a Tootsie roll.

Treat Bag Topper

The second was a card that will fit in a regular business size envelope. The inside sentiment is “What’s Up?” This was my favorite of the projects.

Card 1

The third was also a card.

Card 2

I ended up buying the multi-balloon stamp, so you’re bound to see more projects using it.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day.

A Texan Hello

Posted on March 15, 2011 by Jennifer

Welcome to another Texas Tuesday. You might remember that last time I had mentioned having a tough time deciding on a background for my Texas Independence Day card. I had said that you would probably see my second choice on a later card. Well, here is that later card. I found this Alamo elevation background at the Historic American Buildings Survey. I popped up both my little flag-carrying cowboy and the layer with the Alamo elevation. I debated between “A Texas Hello” and “A Texan Hello” for my hand-written sentiment. I went with “A Texan Hello” and am now wishing I went with “A Texas Hello.” What do you think?

I’m entering this card in the following challenges:

  • Catch the Bug Challenge – scallops
  • Do You Stack Up Challenge #10 – layers
  • Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog – anything goes

A Texan Hello

Stamps: West elevation of the Mission San Antonio de Valero (the Alamo); Deadbeat Designs Texas Rider
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Very Vanilla, Real Red, Brilliant Blue
Ink: Dell printer; Stampin’ Up Basic Gray
Embellishments: red star brads, blue ribbon
Tools: Stampin’ Up scallop border punch; white gel pen

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day.

Texas Independence Day on Texas Tuesday

Posted on March 1, 2011 by Jennifer

Howdy Ya’ll! Welcome to another round of Texas Tuesday. Today, we’re celebrating tomorrow. And tomorrow is… Yep, you guessed it. Texas Independence Day. 175 years ago, our forefathers (well, not mine, since they didn’t arrive in Texas until the 1850s) declared independence from Mexico. And the defeat of the Alamo occurred just four days later. Initially my plan for this card was to include a photo of the Alamo, but my photo archives only include a photo of me, my Mom and my parent’s foreign exchange student in front of the Alamo in 2002. I didn’t really want people in the photo, or at least not prominent people. So I browsed the web for the Alamo. I came across a number of great options, most from Clipart Etc. I narrowed it down to two choices and you’ll probably see the second choice in a later card. I had wanted to use my little cowboy with the Texas flag, but alas I loaned it to a friend and so don’t have it in my possession right now. Instead, I created a sentiment using a font called bleeding cowboys.

Happy Texas Independence Day!

Stamps: Clipart Etc Alamo-54983; Deadbeat Designs small Texas
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Very Vanilla, Real Red, Pacific Point
Ink: Dell printer; Stampin’ Up Real Red
Tools: Stampin’ Up ticket punch

Don’t forget to check out the rest of the Texas Tuesday posse (links in my sidebar —->). You might see some more Texas Independence Day cards.

Thanks for stopping by.

Howdy from Austin

Posted on February 15, 2011 by Jennifer

Greetings! Welcome to another Texas Tuesday, hosted on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. James and I just got back into town yesterday from a little vacation to the Bay area of California, so I had city skylines and “Greetings from” on my mind. I then browsed the sketch blogs in my Google reader and the Mojo Monday Sketch #178 inspired me to create this quick little card. We enjoyed our getaway, but the huge smile that lit up Jessica’s face when we arrived home in Austin after 4.5 days apart was the best part of our trip. Stay tuned for pictures from our trip.

Howdy from Austin card

Stamps: A Muse Cityscape and Clouds; Deadbeat Designs Howdy
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Basic Gray, Real Rust
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Sweet Pea
Ink: Stazon Jet Black; Versamark
Embellishments: orange brad from stash; Stampin’ Up black 5/8″ grosgrain ribbon and eyelets
Tools: cropadile; Nesties large circle and large scalloped circle; black detail embossing powder; black marker (handwritten “from Austin”)

Don’t forget to check out the rest of the posse’s creations and leave them some love (links in my sidebar –>).

Thanks for stopping by.
