Happy Birthday Justin!

Posted on March 31, 2011 by Jennifer

My good friend Justin had his 30th birthday this month. Unfortunately, things have been a little hectic around here and I did not keep my promise to have his birthday card waiting in the mailbox when he got back from his trip to Vegas to celebrate. Hopefully, he forgives me, but I’m sure I’ll get some good natured ribbing from him.

Justin’s favorite color is green, so I decided to use that. He likes a bit more of a hunter green, but I thought the striped paper was so perfect so I went with the more olive green. I used Jen del Muro’s March Sketch for You to Try. I love playing along with her sketches. I’m also entering this card in the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #104 to make a no kids allowed birthday card.

Birthday and Just Because Cards

Posted on November 18, 2010 by Jennifer

Sunday afternoon, I got together with my friends Lori and Evalyn to stamp and gossip and snack. Evalyn really knows how to bring the goodies. I worked on a birthday card for my sister-in-law Julia whose birthday was yesterday. She is a dancer and dance teacher, so I wanted to use this Ballerina Hilda stamp, even though Julia is more of a modern dance kind of girl. I think she liked it and the gift when she opened it Tuesday while Jessica and Aspen played, not really together. I can’t wait until they actually play together. I used the awesome Sweet Stop Sketch #82. They always have such inspiring sketches.

Julia's Birthday Card

Stamps: Motivet Ballerina Hilda; Stampin’ Up stamp set of Lori’s (sentiment)
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Certainly Celery
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Paper Prints Certainly Celery
Ink: Stazon Jet Black
Embellishments: Stampin’ Up Wild Wasabi 3/8-in. double stitched ribbon; Making Memories glitter chipboard flower; sparkle gem
Tools: Prismacolor colored pencils; Stampin’ Up markers; Spica clear marker (on tutu); paper trimmer tool of Lori’s

This second card started out as a Valentine’s card to send to Operation Write Home. Their Valentine deadline is January 7th. However, I didn’t have a Valentine’s sentiment that fit, so I changed it into a “Just Because” card. OWH always needs that type of card. I used Jen del Muro’s Sketch for You to Try. I especially liked her take using different colored polka dot paper, so I decided to do the same. I used a sweet digi image for the Stamp Something November Digi Day challenge. I like how it turned out, although, I kinda wish I hadn’t used the two small heart brads.

Just Because Card

Stamps: Meljen’s Designs Bunny Love; Stampin’ Up Mini Mates (sentiment)
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Loves Me
Ink: Dell printer; Stampin’ Up Rose Red
Embellishments: white heart brads
Tools: Stampin’ Up markers; white gel pen

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Birthday James!

Posted on October 25, 2010 by Jennifer

Today is my sweet husband’s birthday. Earlier today, I took some pictures with Jessica telling Daddy happy birthday. I didn’t think I’d have time to actually post it, because I was trying to finish making the card for him, but she is taking a super long afternoon nap, so here it is.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

James is the best husband and daddy and I wanted to make him a super special card and I think it turned out fabulous. A gift on the other hand. I didn’t get him one. Yet? We’re not really big on exchanging gifts for our birthdays. I never know what to get him and he knows I just get myself gifts every time I get something new crafty-wise. Although, I do have a framed picture of Jessica for him to take to work. I guess that is a gift.

James' Birthday Card

Stamps: Motivet Birthday Morris; Stampin’ Up On Your Birthday (sentiment), Background Basics (on celery piece)
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Pacific Point, Summer Sun, Certainly Celery
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Good Morning Sunshine
Ink: Stazon Jet Black; Stampin’ Up Pacific Point
Embellishments: Stickles Yellow; Inkessentials Glossy Accents (on stamped balloons); Stampin’ Up Old Olive 5/8″ satin ribbon; DMC floss 469
Tools: Prismacolor colored pencils; Nestabilites Standard Circles Large, Classic Scalloped Circles Large; Stampin’ Up Key Tag Punch; Martha Stewart Balloon punch

This card uses the October Motivet sketch posted below.
