New York New York

Posted on April 21, 2018 by Jennifer

If your heart belongs to “the city that never sleeps,” you absolutely need to get New York, New York. This kit perfectly captures the essence of New York City: bold and busy patterns that are always in motion, slightly gritty solid papers, and a shiny chrome alpha. But it’s the elements that really bring it home: Broadway, Wall Street, pizza, hot dogs, taxi cabs, the Statue of Liberty, FDNY memorabilia… It’s enough to make you put the “I <3 NY” badge on every page. Included is a pack of ‘fun fact’ tags for some of the most famous landmarks, making it easy to tell the history and still save space for telling your stories. As always, there are plenty of more traditional buttons, banners, flowers, and fasteners for mixing and matching with other kits if you don’t have a Big Apple trip on the horizon. If New York City stories are filling your to-scrap folder, make a night of it and jazz them up right with New York, New York.

Kit is 50% off at Gingerscraps and My Memories this week.

I had the perfect photos to scrap with this kit. It’s hard to believe that this trip was 20 years ago. It was so fun. This was back when I purchased quite a few postcards when I traveled. Now with digital photography, I don’t purchase post cards as much, unless I actually mail them.

National Treasure

Posted on January 3, 2018 by Jennifer

While the United States has plenty to be proud of, its history is perhaps the most remarkable of all. Many a scholar and proud American alike have found themselves waxing poetic about it… and us scrapbookers have certainly filled our bookshelves with history – both American and our own. National Treasure pays tribute to the people, places, and stories that make our national great. This kit’s bright hues of red, white, and blue are perfect for the Fourth of July, visits to Washington D.C., or hitting up historic battlefields and monuments across the country. Featured elements include the White House, Capitol Building, Washington and Lincoln Monuments, the Statue of Liberty, a cannon, a cherry blossom tree in bloom, and the American Flag. There is also a pack of important quotes, highlighting some of the history of our storied pasts. Whether you’re scrapping a story of “four score and seven years ago” or your most recent visit to the history museum, tell your most treasured stories with National Treasure.

Here is the link for the bundle at Gingerscraps.  You can get all the individual pieces also there at Gingerscraps and at MyMemories.

When I first saw this kit, I wasn’t sure what to scrap since I’ve never visited Washington, D.C. However, then I spied the Statue of Liberty and a light bulb went off. I pulled the pics from my high school band’s trip to NYC and scanned them. Unfortunately, a bunch of the roll of the pictures I took must have gotten overexposed. I cleaned them up as best as I could and felt pretty great to get four. The only one I was disappointed about was the small famiLEE group photo I was a part of. It wasn’t fixable. Thankfully, I did buy the 8×10 full group photo, so that got scanned as well.

I also wanted to use the new template pack and some of the great word art, so I chose to scrap this photo of my paternal grandfather. Ironically, he enlisted on February 7th, which also happens to be the birthday of his oldest (my Dad) and youngest children. Of course, they weren’t born until a number of years later. My Dad was nine when he got a sister for a birthday present.

Travelogue Minnesota

Posted on June 26, 2017 by Jennifer

I absolutely adore Connie Prince’s Travelogue Series. The latest installment in the series is Travelogue Minnesota available at Gingerscraps and the The Digi Chick!

The only time I’ve been to Minnesota was a layover on my way to Madison, WI. The weather was not the greatest, so it did turn into a 6-hour layover. My friends Katie and Stacy, whom I was traveling with to attend the ASCE Student Confence, and I did leave the airport and hit up the Mall of America, but alas I don’t have any pictures to prove that. Now, my sister-in-law’s brother does live in Minnesota and I remembered that my brother, sister-in-law, and niece did travel to Minnesota when he got married, so I asked Julia to share some photos and I decided to scrap these two on the shore of Lake Superior. Lake Superior does look mighty massive.

I decided to scrap some non-Minnesota photos too. I did add a flair and some greenery from Travelogue New York, but I thought Travelogue Minnesota worked quite well to scrap these photos of High Falls in Rochester, NY. That trip in 2013 was the last trip James and I took just the two of us. I had hoped for us to sneak away this summer too, but it didn’t quite work out. Next summer though!

$2 Tuesday: Travelogue New York

Posted on April 25, 2017 by Jennifer

It’s $2 Tuesday again and this week Connie Prince has Travelogue: New York and Procraftinating.

I wanted to work with Travelogue: New York as I have lots of pictures from the trip James and I took from Rochester to Niagara Falls and Buffalo.

I decided to scrap two pages from the High Falls Historic District in downtown Rochester.

Time Sweet Time

Posted on June 13, 2013 by Jennifer

It’s Grab A Byte time over at Scrapbookbytes. The color scheme this month is fabulous. Word Art World has five pieces available for $1 each. The elements have a lot of fun vintage pieces. The first papers has pattern papers and the second papers some more solid type papers as well as papers that pull in the neutral blacks and whites. The word art is fun and is all about taking the time to smell the roses, so to speak.waw_timesweettime_el

There is also a set of Chalk Signs, but I didn’t use it.

I have a layout to share that uses all the fun vintage elements, like the chandelier, the chair, and the pitcher. The photos are from when James and I stayed at the Garden View Bed and Breakfast in Medina, NY.
