Every Day Heroes

Posted on July 23, 2018 by Jennifer

Heroes are more than just Superman or Captain America. Those who uphold the law and put out the fires in day-to-day life are just as deserving of the title of ‘hero’. Every Day Heroes pays tributes to the firefighters and police officers in our lives. This kit draws on the rich red of ladder trucks, navy blue uniforms, and police tape yellow to emphasize the colors in your photos, while eye-catching patterns draw your eyes throughout the page. Every Day Heroes has everything you need: ladder trucks, a fire station, a police car, a jailhouse, uniforms, badges, gear, and the heroes themselves. Other featured elements include handcuffs, a gun, a fire bucket, a fire dog, flames, matches, and a fire alarm. This kit also comes with plenty of signage, flowers, and a crisp white alpha. Every Day Heroes is perfect for celebrating the heroes in your family and documenting field trips to the fire station or police station. So grab your favorite photos and pay tribute to your hero.

I have two layouts to share. The first one documents the annual fall visit from the fire department at my daughters’ preschool. I think it is really important for kids to see that under the fire suit is a regular person and that they are there to help you.

This second layout is of my nephew Rylan. He is a big fan of the police and I love that this officer took the time to make one of his town’s citizens a little happier.

Be a Pineapple and Template Pack 37

Posted on April 1, 2018 by Jennifer

Sometimes life gives us lemons and we need a little break, a little something to put us in a relaxing state of mind. Be A Pineapple is a tropical paradise of inspiration, crammed into a scrapbooking kit. The bright colors, playful art style, and motivational journal cards are perfect for carving out your little chunk of sweetness. There’s plenty of wildlife (including birds, crabs, and a sea turtle), sandcastles, and surfboards, palm trees, sunshine, sea shells, and pineapples to whisk you away to a happy place. But the happiness doesn’t stop there: banners, flowers, bold patterned papers, and a wooden alpha add some more fun to your page. So give yourself a pick-me-up and take some time to scrap those precious memories with Be A Pineapple.

Pick up this bundle for our April 2018 Buffet – or you can pick up solids, patterned papers, embellishments, alpha, journal cards, and template pack 37 all separately. (Template pack not included in bundle.)

I decided to scrap some more of our Tahitian holiday. These two pages document the pineapple plantation part of our 4×4 tour on Mo’orea.

National Treasure

Posted on January 3, 2018 by Jennifer

While the United States has plenty to be proud of, its history is perhaps the most remarkable of all. Many a scholar and proud American alike have found themselves waxing poetic about it… and us scrapbookers have certainly filled our bookshelves with history – both American and our own. National Treasure pays tribute to the people, places, and stories that make our national great. This kit’s bright hues of red, white, and blue are perfect for the Fourth of July, visits to Washington D.C., or hitting up historic battlefields and monuments across the country. Featured elements include the White House, Capitol Building, Washington and Lincoln Monuments, the Statue of Liberty, a cannon, a cherry blossom tree in bloom, and the American Flag. There is also a pack of important quotes, highlighting some of the history of our storied pasts. Whether you’re scrapping a story of “four score and seven years ago” or your most recent visit to the history museum, tell your most treasured stories with National Treasure.

Here is the link for the bundle at Gingerscraps.  You can get all the individual pieces also there at Gingerscraps and at MyMemories.

When I first saw this kit, I wasn’t sure what to scrap since I’ve never visited Washington, D.C. However, then I spied the Statue of Liberty and a light bulb went off. I pulled the pics from my high school band’s trip to NYC and scanned them. Unfortunately, a bunch of the roll of the pictures I took must have gotten overexposed. I cleaned them up as best as I could and felt pretty great to get four. The only one I was disappointed about was the small famiLEE group photo I was a part of. It wasn’t fixable. Thankfully, I did buy the 8×10 full group photo, so that got scanned as well.

I also wanted to use the new template pack and some of the great word art, so I chose to scrap this photo of my paternal grandfather. Ironically, he enlisted on February 7th, which also happens to be the birthday of his oldest (my Dad) and youngest children. Of course, they weren’t born until a number of years later. My Dad was nine when he got a sister for a birthday present.
