PageMaps Sketch Plus Some Other Layouts

Posted on July 23, 2011 by Jennifer

I’ve been in a really scrappy mood lately and having a lot of fun. All of the layouts I’m sharing today are for my parent’s Canadian Rocky trip. They are actually in the order they will be in the final book.

The first one was done using this sketch from Scrapbookbytes.com.

Scrapbookbytes.com July Sketch Challenge 2

Jasper Train Station

Digikits Used: Chugga Choo Choo – Connie Prince

The second layout was made using the PageMaps Punky Sprouts sketch. I decided to change it up a little by adding an additional photo.

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

Digikits Used: Chugga Choo Choo and Zoom Zoom Zoom – Connie Prince

This third layout will be next to previous layout which journals about the lodge’s proximity to beautiful Lac Beauvert and my Dad’s photos of the lake really do make it look gorgeous. Don’t you love how he captured the reflection of the mountains in the still waters of the lake?

Lac Beauvert

Digikits Used: March of the Animals – The Scrapping Sisters

These last two layouts will be side by side in the book.

Pyramid Lake 1

Pyramid Lake 2

Digikits Used: Chugga Choo Choo – Connie Prince

Dad, don’t be concerned about the split photo. In the printed book, it will look fabulous since it will span the two pages.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day.

Keller Crawfish Krawl

Posted on July 19, 2011 by Jennifer

Back in April, we traveled to Keller for my nephew Cameron’s 3rd birthday. I never got around to blogging about his birthday party or the trip the Keller Crawfish Krawl that evening, but here’s four scrappy layouts about the Keller Crawfish Krawl for your enjoyment.

This next layout was made using the Scrapbookbytes.com July Sketch. I flipped the sketch.

Ice Cream Treats Layout

Digikits Used: Backyard BBQ  – Connie Prince; Backyard BBQ Alpha Freebie – Designs by Shari; All Seasons Summer (ESS) – Starry Eyed Designs

The last layout was made using the Scrapbookbytes.com July Topsy Turvy Template. Basically, this means you have to use all the given components (in this case 6 circles, etc.), but you can move and resize plus add additional components. I’ve never done a challenge like this before, but it was a lot of fun.

Turtle Layout

Digikits Used: Cherry Lemonade – Ali Sarah digiscraps (ribbon); Cherry Lemonade – Charm City Scraps (black button); Cherry Lemonade – Teri’s Thing-O-My-Jigs (rect. frame); March of the Animals – B2N2 Scraps (black paper); All Seasons-Summer (ESS) – Circle of Life (red paper); All Seasons-Summer (ESS) – Missy’s Bits (blue paper)

Don’t forget, you can click on the photos to view the layouts bigger.

And the great thing about digital scrapbooking? I can make one time, but print out twice so my sister can have a copy for her scrapbook.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day.

Sketchy Thursdays

Posted on July 15, 2011 by Jennifer

Here’s a layout I made to add to the pages for the scrapbook I’m making for my parents. I used yesterday’s Sketchy Thursdays 7.14 sketch.

Sketchy Thursdays 7.14

I recently bought the cute train digi kit when designer Connie Prince had a sale. I really like her kits and actually bought four of them, so you’ll probably see me using more of them soon.

Patriotic Beauty

Posted on July 14, 2011 by Jennifer

Jessica had some portraits taken at JC Penney the Friday, July 2nd and I decided to go patriotic.

She started off the photo shoot being very serious.

This next one is my favorite photo. To get her to smile, I blew on her belly.

Since I ordered the CD, the photographer let me play around a little bit to add stuff to the CD even though I didn’t order any of them. I actually only ordered 1 8×10 and 4 5×7, with the 5x7s actually being free. But with the CD I can reorder wherever and whenever I want.

JAM4’s Anatomical Ultrasound

Posted on July 12, 2011 by Jennifer

Last Wednesday, we had the anatomical ultrasound for JAM4. No anatomical abnormalities were detected. Based on body dimensions, JAM4 weighed in at 1 pound even, which is right on target for a November 13th due date.

JAM4's Rib Bones and Spine

Isn't this Side Profile Sweet?

Here’s a very brief video showing the four chambers of the heart beating.

We decided not to find out the sex of JAM4. I really want it to be a surprise when he/she is born. I can picture the “It’s a …” moment in the delivery room. James would have preferred to find out, but he let me have the final say; although, the ultrasound technician did give us an envelope with the baby’s sex written inside if we change our mind. Now, I know some of you think I am crazy for not wanting to find out beforehand, but I’m sorry. Now, granted there are some reasons to find out, but I will try to debunk them for you.

  1. It makes it easier to decorate the nursery. Well, we are going to decorate the nursery in the same gender-neutral rainforest theme that we used for Jessica, so this reason is not valid.
  2. It makes it easier to shop for clothes. Well, we have enough gender neutral clothes from Jessica to clothe the baby until he/she is 6 months old, so no new clothes are necessary right away, so this reason is also not valid.
  3. It makes it easier to prepare Jessica. Granted, this reason could be valid. However, I don’t think Jessica is old enough to truly understand that a baby brother/sister is growing inside Mommy and probably won’t truly understand until the baby comes home, so knowing in advance probably won’t matter. If she was older, this reason might make more sense.
  4. It makes it easier to choose a name. Granted, this reason could be valid. We have a boy’s name picked out, Jacob Andrew. And if we found out JAM4 is a boy, we could just stop looking for a girl’s name. However, if we found out JAM4 is a girl, we’d still have to keep looking. So since we’ll end up with an extra name, maybe it will be that much easier to convince James of a JAM5 down the road. LOL.

We are super excited about this baby and looking forward to his/her entrance regardless if JAM4 turns out to be a boy or a girl.
