Summer: 4th of July

One of my favorite collections each month is Connie’s monthly Grab Bags! You get 6 brand new coordinating packs for only $5! While you get a preview on the blog, Connie sets a full reveal of the grab bag in the store so you know what you are getting before you purchase. This month the theme is 4th of July and I bet many of you will love this collection! Available at Ginger Scraps and The Digi Chick. Today is the last day of the grab bag before it is separated into individual packs.

I initially had planned to scrap some pictures from last year’s 4th of July, but then I realized I had already scrapped the ones of Jessica and Janette and I really wanted to use the red, white, blue and cute too word art. So I had to go back to 2010 for some photos that worked. I really love how the first layout turned out. I then had to make a second layout to scrap some additional photos from the same photo shoot.

The Ocean Calls

I decided to scrap some of our 2008 Tahitian vacation. I made a double-page layout of the hotel grounds of the resort we stayed at for the first five nights.

Travelogue Minnesota

I absolutely adore Connie Prince’s Travelogue Series. The latest installment in the series is Travelogue Minnesota available at Gingerscraps and the The Digi Chick!

The only time I’ve been to Minnesota was a layover on my way to Madison, WI. The weather was not the greatest, so it did turn into a 6-hour layover. My friends Katie and Stacy, whom I was traveling with to attend the ASCE Student Confence, and I did leave the airport and hit up the Mall of America, but alas I don’t have any pictures to prove that. Now, my sister-in-law’s brother does live in Minnesota and I remembered that my brother, sister-in-law, and niece did travel to Minnesota when he got married, so I asked Julia to share some photos and I decided to scrap these two on the shore of Lake Superior. Lake Superior does look mighty massive.

I decided to scrap some non-Minnesota photos too. I did add a flair and some greenery from Travelogue New York, but I thought Travelogue Minnesota worked quite well to scrap these photos of High Falls in Rochester, NY. That trip in 2013 was the last trip James and I took just the two of us. I had hoped for us to sneak away this summer too, but it didn’t quite work out. Next summer though!

June Template Bundle

I’m a little behind in blogging. I have quite a few half started posts. I will try to catch up. Connie Prince’s June Template Bundle is already broken up into the individual template sets, so they’re no longer quite the deal, but they’re still fabulous template sets. I do love Connie’s templates.

I used two of the sets. The first one is In Pieces, Vol 9. You can pick it up at Gingerscraps or The Digi Chick. I think the In Pieces series makes some really fun “quilted” layouts.

I also used Busy Bees, Connie’s contribution to the Gingerscraps Buffet this month.

I decided to scrap this really neat photo of my maternal grandmother. My Mom thinks the photo was taken about 1970, so I will update the layout with a c.1970 before I have it printed.

The second set I used is White Space Vol 19. You can pick it up at Gingerscraps or The Digi Chick.

I am personally not a big white space scrapper, because they usually like to make the photos small and that is not my style. However, if you use a large photo as the background, it changes the whole concept and I love it. This layout with the New River Gorge Bridge taking center stage is a new favorite layout and surprisingly the first layout I’ve completed of our West Virginia trip back in 2011.
