Proud to Be an American and Page Starters Vol. 1

Posted on May 25, 2018 by Jennifer

While many people have pride in our country, some people take it to the next level and step up to defend it. Scraps N Pieces’ latest kit Proud to Be an American honors those brave heroes of the United States military and those who defend it. The sedate color palette draws upon the red, white, and blue of the flag, as well as camo green, rich cream, and pops of silver – perfect for scrapping stories old and new. Featured elements include the American flag, Uncle Sam, dog tags, and a weathered wooden alpha. There are seals for all 5 branches – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and the Coast Guard – as well as patches and insignias. The papers pair nicely with the elements, ranging from more traditional patterns like arrows and argyle, to the stars and bars, weathered wood, and camo. Whether you’re scrapping heritage photos of your family’s service or telling the story of a loved one’s deployment, do those photos justice with Proud to Be an American.

50% off at Gingerscraps and My Memories this week. Clusters at Gingerscraps and My Memories

Cluster pack sold separately.

Page Starters Vol. 1 is a new word art pack from World Art World. It has a good variety of word art for all kinds of layouts.

I knew that I would be scrapping some heritage pages with Proud to Be an American and the freedom word art coordinated perfectly.

This first layout is my grandfather, Adolf Kubicek. In the top left corner of the photo, there is a sign above the door that you can only partially see that says hall, so there is speculation that either this photo was taken at the Mess Hall, maybe at Fort Benning, or the VFW. The journaling comes from his separation paperwork. The second photo is my great-uncle, my grandfather’s older brother Raymond. They were both in the Army during World War II.

Southern Charm, Template Pack 32, and Our Mother

Posted on May 1, 2018 by Jennifer

There’s just something about an antebellum plantation home: the silence of the Spanish moss, the stillness in the shade of trees, the grace exuded by the stately decor, and the luxurious feel of the sumptuous fabrics. Bring that feeling to your layouts with Southern Charm. This timeless scrapbooks kit lives up to its name, with perfectly charming details aplenty. The gentle, whitewashed color palette adds color tastefully, with delicate patterns that add class without detracting from your photos. Floral motifs, cameos, and ephemera complement the washed newsprint solids, grungy paint, cotton branches, and typewriter key alpha. If you’re looking to conjure up a timeless grace in your layouts – whether you’re scrapping genealogy, a family vacation, or simply your favorite photos – look no further than Southern Charm.

This kit is part of the May Buffet at Gingerscraps and is available exclusively there this month.  It will be in My Memories beginning in June. You can buy the complete kit, or purchase the different packs separately to mix and match.  The template pack is sold separately.

In addition to Southern Charm and Template Pack 38, I also used a new word art pack, Our Mother, from Word Art World.

As soon as I saw this kit and the cotton bole, I knew I would be scrapping a photo of my grandfather, a farmer who grew cotton, as well as wheat and watermelons. I turned the inscription on the back of the photo into my title. I love that I have his handwriting on this layout.

Now I really wanted to use the new template pack, but I couldn’t think of a photo that would work with it and Southern Charm, so I chose a different Scraps N Pieces kit. I really like this photo of Jessica and I that we took during her field trip to the Austin Nature and Science Center.

New York New York

Posted on April 21, 2018 by Jennifer

If your heart belongs to “the city that never sleeps,” you absolutely need to get New York, New York. This kit perfectly captures the essence of New York City: bold and busy patterns that are always in motion, slightly gritty solid papers, and a shiny chrome alpha. But it’s the elements that really bring it home: Broadway, Wall Street, pizza, hot dogs, taxi cabs, the Statue of Liberty, FDNY memorabilia… It’s enough to make you put the “I <3 NY” badge on every page. Included is a pack of ‘fun fact’ tags for some of the most famous landmarks, making it easy to tell the history and still save space for telling your stories. As always, there are plenty of more traditional buttons, banners, flowers, and fasteners for mixing and matching with other kits if you don’t have a Big Apple trip on the horizon. If New York City stories are filling your to-scrap folder, make a night of it and jazz them up right with New York, New York.

Kit is 50% off at Gingerscraps and My Memories this week.

I had the perfect photos to scrap with this kit. It’s hard to believe that this trip was 20 years ago. It was so fun. This was back when I purchased quite a few postcards when I traveled. Now with digital photography, I don’t purchase post cards as much, unless I actually mail them.

Singing in the Rain

Posted on April 7, 2018 by Jennifer

Whether you prefer to spend rainy days jumping in puddles or watching the weather from inside, Scraps N Pieces has you covered. Singing in the Rain is their tribute to the wonderful weather springtime brings. This bold, primary-colored kit is packed full of patterned papers that set the stage for your scrapping. Rain drops and umbrella motifs feature heavily, along with rain clouds, a raincoat and rain boots, and plenty of gorgeous ephemera. Singing in the Rain also contains some fun thematic elements dedicated to the musical movie of the same name for those days when you have a “glorious feeling” you need to scrap. So whether the weather has you singing or snuggling in to scrap, it’s a perfect day for Singing in the Rain.

Grab this kit during the first week of release for 1/2 price.  Preview is linked to our Gingerscraps store.

I knew what I would be scrapping as soon as I saw that Lori and Heidi were doing a Singing in the Rain kit for their musical kit this month. We took a bunch of photos with the Singing in the Rain photo prop in Hollywood Studios.
