Cameron’s 2nd Birthday

Posted on March 31, 2010 by Jennifer

Sunday, March 28th was Cameron’s 2nd birthday. We took a road trip up to Sarah‘s place for his party held Saturday afternoon. We arrived Saturday at lunch. Then the kiddos got to play some before taking naps to be bright-eyed and bushy tailed for the party. Unfortunately, Jessica did not want to nap. She finally slept for about an hour on James’ chest upstairs after the party got started at 4 PM.

The birthday boy had a blast blowing out his birthday candles. Sarah had to light them multiple times since he kept blowing them out before everyone sang him the birthday song. Watching him open the presents was fun. He kept getting excited and wanting to play with his new toys. Sarah had to reel him back in to open the rest of the gifts.

After the party attendees departed, the kiddos got to play a little bit before going to bed. Since Jessica didn’t really nap very well, she slept like a champ.

The morning brought some play time with Papa and her cousins.

I love the expression on their faces in this next photo. You can certainly tell they’re related.

Before Jason, Julia, and Aspen left, we had to have a little photo shoot with all the kiddos and the grandparents. Of course, at this point, getting everyone to look the same direction is nigh near impossible, but at least everyone was happy.

We stuck around and had lunch with Brian, Sarah, Cameron and Trevor and then we headed back to Austin. Jessica took a nice long nap in the car, as did her mama.

Fuzzy Wuzzy Birthday Easel Card

Posted on March 23, 2010 by Jennifer

My nephew turns two on Sunday. We will be attending his birthday party on Saturday. I wanted to make him a card he can enjoy and hopefully won’t tear up. This card meets the requirements of two challenges. All That Scraps Weekly Wednesday Challenge #21 is to make an easel card using stamps found in the All That Scraps store. Although technically I’m late on the ATS challenge. I thought I had until 10 PM, but I forgot to notice that it was 10 PM EST. Oops. The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge #48 is to use something fuzzy on your interpretation of their sketch. I made the little puppy dog fuzzy with flock. I wish I had colored the spot on the puppy’s face with a darker brown before I flocked him.

Driving by with a Birthday Hi

Posted on March 15, 2010 by Jennifer

Our friend Justin came to visit this past weekend. His birthday was last week, so I wanted to make him a birthday card. This card was made for the ATS Wednesday Challenge 21 to use green. I think the idea behind the challenge was for the upcoming St. Patrick’s day, but I thought this was perfect challenge for Justin’s birthday card as his favorite color is green. I used the Our Creative Corner sketch from last week as the starting point to layout the card, but I changed it up slightly since this was going to be a card for a guy. I didn’t want to use a decorative edge.

Riley with a Blue Car

I ended up making two cards, since I couldn’t quite decide how I wanted to color Riley and his car. I actually let Justin pick which card he wanted to receive and he chose the green car. The green car has glossy accents all over the car, while the blue car just has glossy accents on the tires and lights of the car.

SFYTT & TCP Color Challenges

Posted on February 20, 2010 by Jennifer

I’m trying to increase the number of birthday cards in my stash. That is part of why I typically make 2 of the same card when I make cards. One to use now (in this case my BIL’s birthday) and one to use later. I think this card turned out pretty cute and will be perfect for male birthdays. I used Jen del Muro’s Sketch for You to Try and The Cat’s Pajamas color challenge of olive, light blue and ivory.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Posted on February 7, 2010 by Jennifer

Today is my father’s birthday. I am very much a daddy’s girl. I was looking through my pictures to find some showing the two of us. It is sad, but I didn’t find many. It’s probably because for most of my pictures, I’m the photographer. This one was taken by my sister when we had a family trip to South Padre Island last May.

My dad is also quite the shutterbug. My parents scanned a number of pictures of me when I was a baby (since I’m going to post a comparison of Jessica to her mommy and daddy soon), and there weren’t many of my Dad and I, since most of them were taken by my Dad. Doesn’t my Dad look young? He was 25 when I was born. Looking at him in this picture, I actually see a lot of my brother who is currently 26.

Here is the card I made for him. I used the Mojo Monday 124 sketch. I think it turned out pretty cute.
