Topsy Turvy

Good morning! Today I am sharing two more layouts for my parents Canadian Rockies trip. The first uses February’s Topsy Turvy template. I find templates and sketches a great way to expand my thinking of how to organize a layout.

P52 – Weeks 1, 2 and 3

This year I decided that I would do a P52. Basically, this means I will take at least one photo every day of the year and I will make a weekly scrapbook layout with 7 photos for that week and journal the everyday moments. I have been steadily working on it, but I haven’t shared any of it yet. I thought I would do that today. Don’t forget you can click on the images to view bigger.

This first layout will be the cover when I have all the layouts printed in a bound book at the end of the year. The inspiration for the blocked look and title came from this post by Wishing Well Creations. The poem by William Arthur Ward I included is the January Quote Challenge at Scrapbookbytes.com.

Family

Here is a layout I completed for two challenges. The first challenge was the Scrapbookbytes.com October Quote Challenge to use a quote about relationships. I really liked this quote by Desmond Tutu: “You don’t choose your family.  They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.” The second challenge was the Scraps-N-Pieces October recipe challenge that required me to use journaling, a fastener (staple, brad, etc), a frame, at least 6 papers, and stitching. The hardest part of this challenge was the use of 6 papers. The pictures are from the Dzubinski family trip this past summer, both are thanks to my sister.

Canadian Rocky Layouts – 6/18/10

Today, I’m sharing five more layouts that will go in the album I’m making for my parents about their Canadian Rocky trip. I’m trying to finish it up before the baby arrives. All of these layouts are from the first day of their journey on the Rocky Mountaineer.

Journaling reads: “Friday, June 18, 2010 Our bus picks us up at the hotel and delivers us and several other people to the train station, where we board the Rocky Mountaineer for our trip to Kamloops. The train leaves Vancouver and travels east along the Fraser River.”

Fonts Used: Candy Squared BTN Striped, Catherine’s Lazy Days (journaling)

The next two layouts will be on facing pages. Journaling reads: “Our train car can hold 58 passengers, but there were only 31, so we had plenty of room to move around.”

Boarding Passes Layout

Digikit: Connie Prince – Chugga Choo Choo
Fonts Used: {skinny} jeans solid (our route tag on map), Sweet Home Oklahoma (journaling)

Journaling reads: “From the top of Fraser canyon, an air-tram goes down to Hell’s Gate, where the canyon walls rise 3,300 ft above the rapids.”

On this next layout, I used Sassy Lil’ Sketches Send Off Sketch 5.

Bridges Over Fraser River Layout

Fonts Used: Cinema Gothic BTN Shadow

I ended up liking how the sketch worked so much, that I made a coordinating second page by just changing the photo blocking and removing the title. Journaling reads: “After arriving in Kamloops, we walk around downtown before eating dinner on the patio at Frick & Frack, a Canadian restaurant similar to Chili’s. We retire to our hotel, just a couple of blocks from the train station and Fraser River.”
