A Few Lake LBJ Layouts

Almost two weeks ago, we had the annual Dzubinski family trip. This year we went to Kingsland and stayed at the Antlers Inn, right on Lake LBJ. I’m a slacker when it comes to blogging about trips, because I take so many pictures and I have a hard time choosing which ones to blog. My sister Sarah already blogged days 1, 2, and 3 and my sister-in-law Julia did a single blog post. I’m going to go a bit untraditional in terms of blogging about the trip. I’m going to share a few layouts I’ve made of day 3 today. We’ll see when/if/how I blog about the rest of the trip.

The first layout uses the current Sketchy Thursdays sketch. Journaling reads: Sunday morning, we loaded up on a rented pontoon boat to kick back and relax. July 31, 2011

This next layout is purely of the action on the boat. I thought I was doing great to get at least one photo of everyone on the boat, but then I realized I didn’t include a picture of my brother Jason. I looked through mine and my sister’s photos and apparently no pictures of my brother were taken when he was on the boat.

It was almost as if he was never on the boat, which brings us to the third layout. Journaling reads: Jason and then Jason and Julia were the first to try out the jet ski. Of course Jason was also the first to try out the tube pulled behind the boat. It was almost as if Jason was never on the boat.

Last week our chest freezer had issues and we realized it had no power for undetermined period of time. James figured out the problem and got it running. Wednesday night, we emptied it of all the spoiled refrozen food since yesterday was trash day. We then unplugged it so I could clean it out. Today, I have plans to sop up all the thawed juices and then clean it thouroughly before plugging it back in, but I am procrastinating because the whiff I got when I opened it was not a good whiff. And my pregnant nose smells way better than I want it to for this task.

So instead, I’m going to share this layout I made last night. It uses the Scrapbookbytes.com August #1 sketch. I really like how it turned out. I’m rather jealous of the beautiful scenery from my parent’s Canadian Rocky trip. One day, I too will visit the Canadian Rockies. Of course, not anytime soon.

The journaling reads: We ascended the summit of The Whistlers, a mountain named for the whistling sound made by the Hoary Marmot, via the Jasper Tramway. Jasper Tramway is the highest and longest guided aerial tramway in Canada. It took only seven minutes to get to the Upper Station where we could overlook the scenic mountain town of Jasper and the lakes we visited that morning.

I’ve been in a really scrappy mood lately and having a lot of fun. All of the layouts I’m sharing today are for my parent’s Canadian Rocky trip. They are actually in the order they will be in the final book.

This third layout will be next to previous layout which journals about the lodge’s proximity to beautiful Lac Beauvert and my Dad’s photos of the lake really do make it look gorgeous. Don’t you love how he captured the reflection of the mountains in the still waters of the lake?

Basically, this means you have to use all the given components (in this case 6 circles, etc.), but you can move and resize plus add additional components. I’ve never done a challenge like this before, but it was a lot of fun.
