No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

Growing up, there was a nursery rhyme about monkeys who jumped on the bed and it always seemed to end in trips to the doctor. I made two layouts. The first one is a recent doctor’s appointment. Journaling reads: While we waited in the exam room to see Dr. Siddiqui, Janette and I played with the toys in the provided toy box. She quite enjoyed the doctor’s toys. When she placed the stethoscope on the table top, I asked her if the table had a heartbeat. She replied… “Yes, it has a heartbeat, because the table is sick.”

This second one scraps a medical procedure when Jessica was just a few weeks old. Journaling reads: Jessica had an ultrasound performed on her hips. This is a common precautionary test for breech babies. She slept the entire time, even with that cool gel. The ultrasound technicians said it would be nice if more babies were that calm. This picture was taken after they finished the test. We found out the results and everything is normal.

Temptations Vol. 42

Comic Book

This month’s Scraps N Pieces Collab is called Comic Book. It is a fun super hero themed kit. There are two templates and one of them looks much like a comic book page. You can buy the kit with or without the QPs.

I have two layouts to share today using Comic Book. The first is a themed layout with Janette modeling one of my sewing creations. Journaling reads: Super hero capes have become my go-to gift for boys. I’ve made them enough that I’ve perfected my pattern and technique. They are quick to sew and they’re personalized with the initial of the recepient. I’ve been told that the recepients love them, which makes me happy. Today, I decided to have Janette model the one for Wyatt, so I could take pictures that showcased the cape a little better than my previous method of photographing them while hanging on a hanger.

The second is a non-themed layout when I took the girls to a local bounce house. Journaling reads: Jessica had been asking to go to a bounce house, so we went to iPlay to celebrate the last week of summer. I had asked if some of the girls’ friends could join us, but only Leah’s mom Michelle replied with a yes. However, we saw so many people we knew. When we first arrived around 11:15 AM Jessica’s Grasshopper classmates, Issac, Ben and Jonas were there, plus my MOPS friends Claudia and Jill with their kids and of course Michelle with Leah and Hayden. Later, Jessica’s Grasshoppers classmates Len and Tye plus Len’s little sister Lily, who was Janette’s Ladybug classmate. Since I had packed a lunch for us, we ended up staying until almost 6. The girls had an absolute blast and they definitely slept well that night.

I have one layout using Start Your Engines. It’s from the Alaskan cruise we just returned from last week. There is an area of the Disney Wonder, the ship we cruised on, that is called the Route 66 entertainment district.

On the Boardwalk

The July SNP store collab is really fun this month. On the Boardwalk has a great color scheme that would be perfect for patriotic layouts, but it is wide enough to be used for a variety of layouts. I love the quantity of floral elements in it, plus the themed elements are really lively. Check out that neat patio chair.

I decided to scrap photos from a birthday party at Kiddie Acres. I got on a roll and scrapped five pages to cover the event.

Journaling reads: January 11, 2014 Harper invited Jessica to her 4th birthday party. It was held at Kiddie Acres, a neat amusement park in north Austin geared to children 10 and younger. Initially, Jessica wasn’t too sure about some of the rides, but seeing her friends enjoy the rides prompted her to give them a try. Jessica and Janette’s first ride was the miniature train. James rode with them while I snapped photos. It wasn’t long before they rode just about every ride, except the pony ride. The weather ended up being really nice and it was a beautiful time celebrating Harper’s birthday.

Journaling reads: Each guest was given their very own unicorn horn as a party favor. Jessica loved it and wore it quite a bit during the party. You could tell that Lena, Harper’s mom, put a lot of effort into making them.
