Let It Snow

Posted on December 7, 2012 by Jennifer

Amy’s Designs has an adorable new kit out today, called Let It Snow. There are the most adorable little polar bears in it. It’s on sale for 50% off right now.

Here’s the paper preview.

Snow is not something I see much of. Since moving to Austin in 2003, there have been eight times we’ve had snow.

Feb. 8, 2003…….0.4 inches
Feb. 24, 2003……0.4 inches
Feb. 14, 2004……1.6 inches
Jan. 16, 2007……0.1 inches
Jan. 17, 2007…….0.1 inches
Dec. 9, 2008……..0.1 inches
Feb. 23, 2010……0.6 inches
Feb. 4, 2011…….0.9 inches

So scrapping snowy photos was somewhat difficult. My first layout uses photos from Jessica’s first experience of snow. It has only snowed twice in Austin in her lifetime and the second time, we must not have gone outside in it since I don’t have any photos to show for it.

Journaling reads: “Today was the heaviest snowfall in Austin since Valentine’s Day, 2004, with 1.3 inches accumulating in parts of town. Officially, at Camp Mabry 0.60 inches of snow fell today. The high was 40°F. Since, the ground temperature was above freezing, the snow didn’t last long. I took Jessica outside for just long enough to capture her first snow experience. To think, just two days earlier, the high was 76°F and we were playing at the park in short sleeves. Tuesday, February 23, 2010”

The second layout showcases the balcony and little yard of the apartment James and I shared for our first year of married life.

Journaling reads: “Valentine’s Day, 2004 We received 1.6 inches of snow. It was the heaviest snowfall Austin had received since January 1985. I took these photos about 11 AM of our apartment balcony. James had moved in a few weekends previously and we had started moving my belongings in anticipation of our wedding in two weeks.”

I’m hoping we’ll see some snow this year, so Janette can experience it.

I hope we have snow this winter. Jessica looks cute sitting in her first snow. It would be fun to get pictures of Jessica and Janette in the snow. I like the colors and the snowman is just too cute.

That is a good picture of James. We have good memories of visiting you two there.
