Aspen’s Baptism

Posted on April 14, 2010 by Jennifer

Last Saturday afternoon was Aspen’s baptism. It was held at 4 PM at St. Theresa Catholic Church. I’d never visited that church before and the stained glass window behind the alter was gorgeous. Aspen did really well and it was a very nice ceremony. Unfortunately, I didn’t take as many pictures as I normally would as I was helping Julia out by taking photos with her camera.

Apparently, it was more interesting to look at her Aunt Sarah than smile at the camera.

Since Brian was keeping Cameron occupied and Sarah was the godmother, James held Trevor since Jessica was happy to play in her carrier for the majority of the ceremony.

Here’s my cutie pie with her Daddy. Doesn’t she look fancy in her party dress?

Earlier in the day, Jason and Julia held a cook-out to celebrate the day’s big event. I’m glad I was able to help out by bringing dessert (blog post on that to come). I think the party started right after Aspen woke up from her nap. She still looks a little sleepy in this photo, but it was such a great photo of my Mom.

Jessica fought and fought naptime that morning and so she was kinda sleepy at the party. We actually ended up leaving to take Jessica home for a nap before the baptism.

After Aspen’s baptism, my parents, Sarah and her family and us went to eat dinner at BJ’s Restaurant. Jessica did pretty well, considering she didn’t get a morning nap and only got a relatively short afternoon nap. Here we are waiting for our table. The wait wasn’t too terribly bad since we called ahead.

Sunday morning before Sarah and her family left, Trevor and Jessica got to play together. For some reason, Jessica really liked holding his ear. She does like to grab my ears too for that matter.

This is a pose that we’ve begun to see a lot of recently. This makes bow wearing difficult, because the bow typically goes where her hand is located.

We then went and had breakfast tacos at Torchy’s Tacos before they headed out of town to go home.

Hang 10

Posted on April 13, 2010 by Jennifer

I almost didn’t get around to doing this week’s ATS Challenge #24, because I couldn’t think of a shaped card I wanted to make. Last night I was stamping some images to send off for a new friend and one of the images was this Surfer Riley (ATS used to carry Riley stamps). And it came to me, I should make a surfboard shaped card.  I penciled in the shape  on a 3.5″x8.5″ card and then hand-cut it out. I wish I had some sand to glue to the bottom, but I don’t, so I tried to make it look like sand. Do you think I succeeded? I also added some sparkle to the water with my clear atYou Spica marker.

Aspen’s Baptism Card

Posted on April 11, 2010 by Jennifer

Aspen, currently Jessica’s only girl cousin, was baptized yesterday and I made her this card using the Special Blessings set. I bought this set a while back, because I knew it would come in handy for times like these. Pictures from the baptism and related family time to come soon. The inside of the card reads “on your Baptism day.” I knew Aspen liked her card, because as soon as I gave it to her and her Mom, she put it in her mouth.

Bluebonnet Beauty

Last Saturday, we took Jessica to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. I really like visiting the Wildflower Center. It is always so pretty. You can see pictures from my other trips to the Wildflower Center here and here.

I was excited to get some pictures with Jessica and the bluebonnets. She seemed to really enjoy the bluebonnets and other wildflowers. She also liked the little mini waterfall at the pond and kept looking at it.

A Few of Jessica’s Firsts

Posted on April 5, 2010 by Jennifer

About a week ago, I decided I would see if I could put Jessica’s hair in little pigtails. It worked, but her first pigtails didn’t last long. I will try again soon with a new method of holding it in place. Doesn’t she look cute?

Jessica in Pigtails

Jessica is a little scooting monster. Here’s a video of her scooting action.

She really enjoys going to the park on our afternoon walks (unless she falls asleep before we get there). I think her favorite thing at the park is the springy frog, but I can’t hold her on it and take a picture, so here she is in the swing.

Jessica Swinging Away

On Saturday, we decided to try solid food for the first time. She seemed pretty excited and even slobbered on the rice cereal box.

Jessica Likes the Cereal Box

But then came the actual food and it was a complete failure. She really didn’t want anything to do with it as you can see by this photo.

1st Solid Food

Sunday’s attempt went a bit better. She seems excited about it and opens her mouth, but then once the food is in her mouth, she doesn’t seem to like it.
