Life is a Highway

Posted on by

I’m guesting on Connie Prince’s Creative Team again this month. I’m super excited about that. The first kit I got to play with was this month’s Gotta Grab It kit, Life is a Highway.

Feb2014GGI

During GGI, you can pick up the kit in pieces, plus the extra packs for $1 each. I’m only showing previews for the pieces I used.

I also used one of the templates from Only One Vol. 2, which is part of February’s Template Grab Bag.cap_onlyonetemps2I have two layouts to share. First up is a themed layout of the girls when we were at the car dealership. Journaling reads: The girls and I took our mini-van to Howdy Honda for the semi-annual Auto Butler service as well as an oil change. They also repaired a tiny crack in the windshield. We spent the morning watching The Little Mermaid in their kid zone and playing. After eating our packed lunch, the girls started to get restless. We decided to go check out the new models they had in the showroom. Jessica and Janette had fun climbing in and out of the car. Jessica helped Janette buckle up and loved “driving.”2014-02-08_LO_Going-for-a-Test-Drive

Second is a layout of James’ parents. I think this might have been taken for their church directory.2014-02-08_LO_Joe-and-Olivia

Captured by You

It’s Gotta Grab It time at Gotta Pixel. This month’s color swatch is pretty fun.

Feb2014GGIWord Art World has five fun packs you can pick up for $1 today through February 14th. Initially, she was considering a project life type kit with these colors, but one of my fellow CT members suggested doing a Valentine’s Day theme playing up the non-traditional colors. Thus, Captured by You was born. Personally, I’m so glad she went with the love theme as I love it.

GGI0214_capturedbyyou_el GGI0214_capturedbyyou_pp1 GGI0214_capturedbyyou_pp2 GGI0214_capturedbyyou_walp GGI0214_capturedbyyou_wsI made two love layouts. First up is a vintage photo of James’ grandparents. Since it was a photo from the 70s, I went with rounded corners on the photo and photo mat.2014-02-08_LO_Cecil-and-Freda

Digkit: Word Art World – Captured by You (elements, papers 1, papers 2, word art)

Second is a layout of Jessica’s school friend, Lana, at their school Valentine’s picnic/party last year. Somehow, I don’t think they’ll be having a picnic on Valentine’s Day this year. It’s amazing to watch Jessica and her friends grow. Lana used to be so shy around me. Now her personality just shines.2014-02-08_LO_Valentine's-Day-Lana

Family Subway Art

Word Art World is opening her new store at Gingerscraps, which is really cool. I love the challenges they have in the forum. She has everything in her new store 40% off the first week. Now’s the perfect time to stock up.
1560378_10151917514852747_1621560293_nOne of her products that she is showcasing is her Family Subway Art. I was very excited when she first released this back in November as I thought it was a great gift idea.1506525_10151917493792747_235594658_n
I made two versions, one each with two of the three background options available. The first one is the chalkboard style that I made for our family. I haven’t had it printed yet, as I want to hold off until I’m sure I can’t convince James of another baby.2014-02-07_Family-Subway-Art-Moore The second one I made for my brother and his wife for Christmas. I can’t wait to see where they hung it up in their house. The background on this one has an earthy look. I was so impressed with how the 16×20 canvas print of this turned out. I ordered it from Picture It on Canvas using a Groupon. I would definitely recommend printing your family subway art there.

Come back tomorrow as I have four layouts to share.
