Most Magical Place

Posted on January 19, 2014 by Jennifer

Today, I am sharing a fabulous Disney inspired kit by Magicals Scraps Galore. Most Magical Place is full of bright colors and is perfect for scrapping the most magical place on earth. Of course, with the balloons and banners, you could totally rock a birthday or any occasion layout as well. I’ve had this kit on my wish list since Marina of Magical Scrap Galore released it. I was so happy to have the chance to work with it this month as part of my store CT duties.

I scrapped two layouts from our Disney cruise vacation. These photos were taken almost exactly one year ago and now I finally have them scrapped.

SNP has a lot of fun challenges. This second layout was a scraplift for the January Scraplift Challenge. Janette didn’t know what to think of the cast member with the big orange character hand.

I hope you’re having an awesome weekend.

Sassy and Classy

Posted on January 14, 2014 by Jennifer

It’s Gotta Grab It time at Gotta Pixel. I love this month’s color swatch. Word Art World has five pieces for $1 each through January 17th. Sassy and Classy is definitely a girly kit, but I think it works great for heritage pages also.

When I first saw the kit previews, I noticed the typewriter and thought that it would be perfect for a photo of my Grandma hard at work. Journaling is adapted from a personal history my Aunt Karen wrote up before Alzheimer’s stole my Grandma’s memories. Journaling reads: In 1947 at age 17, HIlda obtained an apprenticeship at Kraftanlage A.G. with the help of her Uncle Rudi, who worked there as a designer. A civil enginnering firm, Kraftanlage A.G. designed underground heating. The training at the business school lasted about a year and then she became a secretary. She worked there until 1954. One of her co-workers, Ellen Stadler, set her up on a blind date November 21, 1951, which led to her future husband. Ellen’s sister, Martha Stadler, had a fiancé, Charlie Homoloc, who had a friend, John. Charlie and John were both US soldiers. Photo taken in 1953.

My second layout is for the Tempting Template Challenge at Gotta Pixel. The yellow of the kit wasn’t quite the same yellow of Janette’s dress, but I felt it was a good fit for these photos anyway.

I hope you’re having a fabulous week so far. I’ll be sharing more layouts on Thursday, so be sure to come back then.

Book Nerd

Posted on January 9, 2014 by Jennifer

To me, reading is an adventure you take with your imagination. So it came as no surprise that I LOVE Queen Wild Scraps’ latest release, Book Nerd. It has lots of great book elements, like that awesome bookshelf. There are fun quote strips. And the color scheme is super fun.

There’s also some adorable coordinating journal cards.
And if you puchase Book Nerd today through January 16th, you get those journal cards for free. Plus, the kit is 50% off too, so this is a steal of a deal.

Here are two layouts I made using Book Nerd.

Beth’s first layout uses a template from The Big Picture Templates. Henriett was on a roll and has three layouts for you. Kandice has a layout with the program and ticket stub from a play she attended with her kids. Kendra also used a template from Inspired Templates Vol 3. She’s playing along with this month’s Photo Editing Challenge at SNP.

Kristal has a cute layout about the books her daughters received for Christmas.Lyndee is playing along with the new challenge called Inspired by Pinterest. Recognize that template? It’s the same one Jennifer and Kendra used. Great minds think alike, yet make totally unique layouts. Teresa is playing along with the photo editing challenge also. Tina has three layouts to inspire. The first one is even photoless. Trinity used the Recipe Challenge to cook up her layout. QWS_BN_Trinity1

Camp Out

Posted on January 4, 2014 by Jennifer

I had intended to share this at the end of December, but you know how December is when there are little ones afoot. Today, I’m showing up two different products.

Camp Out is a fun nature kit by Mommy Made This. It is perfect for your camping trips, nature photos or even campfire themed birthday parties.

Birthday Wishes is a great template set by Memories by Digital Design. Even though it is designed for birthday photos, all but one of the layouts could be used for just about anything. The fourth could be used for any time presents involved.

I have two fun layouts using two of the templates and Camp Out. First up, is a birthday party of my daughter’s school friend. Journaling reads: Rose —-, a classmate of Jessica’s, invited us to her 4th birthday party. Rose chose a camping theme for her party. It was a lot of fun. There was a stock tank set up like a fishing pond, leaf rubbing art set up in the tent, bubble blowing, and a sand table where you could dig for fossils or treasures. Rose’s mom Jaime made the cool birthday cake that looked like a campfire. The goody bags contained mini flashlights that Jessica loved.

Second is a layout of some deer we saw in our neighborhood. Journalings reads: Our neighborhood is bordered by a large acreage of ranchland. Because of that and the nature preserve in the middle of our neighborhood, we frequently see deer. On this Sunday, we decided to drive around the estate portion of the neighborhood after lunch before heading back home so Janette could take a nap. We came across two mama deer and their three babies grazing. I happened to have my camera with me and was able to capture these photos. Aren’t those twin fawns adorable?

I hope you’re having a great weekend.
