Queen Wild Scraps has an awesome new release today. Earlier this year, the monthly SNP store collab was a desert themed kit and Lahni had made some state templates as her portion of the collab. A number of the girls on the CT told her she needed to make more like that with all the states. And that is how State of Mind: West Coast came to be. I have two layouts to share using State of Mind: West Coast. First up uses the Hawaii template. This will be the cover page to my family’s Hawaiian vacation when I was 20. My Dad recently gave me CDs of his digital pictures. I need to scan the negatives before scrapping anymore, since there are very few photos of my Dad taken with his camera.

This second layout uses the California template. I resized the photo spots and used the state to journal a summary of our trip. This was our first out of two so far trips without kiddos. As our kiddos are 4 and 2 and we’ve traveled in 2011 and 2013, maybe we’ll make it a every other year tradition.

I have two layouts to share today. The first one use both Scraps N’ Pieces kit as well as The Scrappy Cat’s kit. I chose to scrap a fun 6-hour hike we took in 2011. Journaling reads: Big Basin is only 20 miles from San Jose, but is a one-hour drive along twisty mountain roads. Mona and Alan picked us up from our hotel fairly early so we would be sure to arrive with time to spare for the 9:30 guided hike. After we arrived at the park headquarters area, we had time to explore around the 1930s lodge-style buildings built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. In addition to the park headquarters, they built the amphitheater and miles of trails. California’s oldest state park, Big Basin was established in 1902. Home to the largest continuous stand of Ancient Coast Redwoods south of San Francisco, the park consists of Old Growth and recovering Redwood Forest, with mixed conifer, oaks, chaparral, and riparian habitats. Elevations in the park vary from sea level to over 2,000 feet.

The second layout uses just Scraps N’ Pieces kit. I wanted to really focus on the pine cone. It’s crazy how small a redwood pine cone is considering how big the tree gets.
