Featured SNP Designer Aug 16-31: True North Scraps
I’m so excited to announce that True North Scraps is the Featured Designer at Scraps N Pieces from August 16 – 31!
This is going to be so much fun!
Turtle Scraps: Every couple of days, early in the morning, a set of 7 instructions will be posted. You will have until 6 am CST the following day to post your LO in the True North Scraps gallery at Scraps N Pieces. The reason we’re holding Turtle Scraps is so that my friends from Europe, Asia and Down Under can play along too. Chats may be held any time during the day though, so watch for the schedule that will be posted at Scraps N Pieces and on my Facebook Page. Chats are optional events, but you never know when the RAK Fairy might show up… Every Turtle Scrap you complete within the time limit will earn you a piece of my kit called Sunday Afternoon!
If you can’t collect the whole thing, “Sunday Afternoon” will go in all of the TNS stores on September 1st.
Bingos: We’ll be holding a few bingo games during the 2 weeks Dawna is featured designer. You will be given a list of words to choose and you make your own bingo card. Bingo cards must be completed and submitted one full day prior to the scheduled bingo game. Bingo will be played during a chat. The RAK Fairy may be attending those games!
Treasure Hunt: On August 16th, look for an image with some easily identifiable pieces of various kits in True North Scrap’s store. PM your answers to Dawna before the end of the month and if you are correct, you will earn a 25% coupon to her store!

Heat Wave
August days are usually so hot and muggy and the kids are at that stage where they are bored being out of school. So what do you do with them? Take them to the water park!

I made a layout about some fun we had at a splash pad recently. Journaling reads: “After Jessica’s swim lesson, we headed to the Hill Country Galleria to play at the splash pad. Since it was a MOPS playdate, I had a chance to chat with Lori Sonnier while the girls got to play with Lori’s three boys (the youngest is just a few weeks older than Jessica). Unfortunately, since we had arrived late, we missed seeing Michelle Elley, Kristal Cohle, and Ann Marie Mosher and their kids. After splashing around, we dried off and walked to Which Wich for lunch.”

July 1st is Canada’s birthday and we want to celebrate it with a new kit, True Patriot Love!
This is a gigantic collaboration that was contributed to by the four Canadian designers at Scraps N Pieces: Marie H Designs, Mommy Made This, Queen Wild Scraps, and True North Scraps. This is probably one of the best collabs I have ever seen in my life!

I would like to show off the layouts I made using True Patriot Love. The first is a two-page spread for the Canadian Rockies album I’m making for my parents. This will be the first two pages for the album and even though I’m almost finished, I needed to go back to the beginning. I either needed to make a page 4 pictureless layout, so there wouldn’t be an empty spot due to the next two pages needing to be side by side, or combine the first three layouts into two. I decided to combine. I really like how it turned out and I was able to incorporate the fun Vancouver Then and Now article from their Rocky Mountaineer Mile Post Newspaper.

These next two layouts are from a trip James and I took for a little getaway as he had to make a trip to Rochester for work and I arrived at the end of his work days. The first one will be the cover page of the album. I have so many vacation albums that just have a few pages done, who knows when I’ll finish this one.

We ended up staying and James had a Cordon Bleu crepe while I had a Chicken Caesar crepe. We then walked back to our hotel to hop in our rental car to drive north to Niagara-on-the-Lake.”

North Stars Clip Show
True North Scraps does not have a new release for you this week but I love to show you the gorgeous layouts the North Stars have been working on recently.
First on the Clip Show is 5 Shades of Gray, Add On and Li’l Black Dress Alpha. There are 41 glittery, shiny and classic elements inside this kit. The next kit is Fresh As A Daisy. Don’t the beautiful greens of this kit remind you of the first little sprouts poking through the dirt, the trees leafing out, grass coming back to life, and just an overall freshness. This kit has 42 elements including plenty of daisies and there are even an adorable little girl and boy gnome to watch over your LOs. With gorgeous papers are so fresh and outdoorsy. You will have trouble deciding which ones you want to use first.

With fun retro colors and just the right textures, this kit will be perfect for helping you create so many layouts about your day trips, weekend getaways and cross country travels. Here’s a kit that was just recently be released called Blossoms of My Heart. This is a lovely feminine kit. Did you take your mother out for Mother’s Day? This kit will be perfect for scrapping those photos with. With 40 gorgeous elements in such pretty shades of pinks and purples, with a hint of green and yellow thrown in for good measure. It’s heavy on flowers, but that’s what makes it such a great feminine kit. It comes with 16 papers include 4 glitter sheets! As well, there is a cute alpha in this kit. If you love papers Dawna has created an extra pack of papers you can also get, called Blossoms Of My Heart Swiss Dot Papers.

The last kit to talk about is Smooth Sailing. This huge nautical kit is the perfect colours for scrapping a Disney Cruise Line vacation, but you will find that it works well for so many summer or vacation photos. There’s a sandy beach, relaxation and play elements too, so even if you have never sailed on an ocean cruise, but you have been to the shore, this kit is for you! Inside you will find 22 beautifully textured papers and 47 highly detailed elements. Also included is a cute alpha with just a hint of glitter that will remind you of the sunlight glinting off the water. It has a full upper and lower case alpha, the numbers 0-9 and some punctuation.
