Memories Captured

Posted on March 1, 2014 by Jennifer

Word Art World’s contribution to the March Gingerscraps Buffet is simply gorgeous. I love the soft feel of Memories Captured. It is perfect for heritage pages, boy layouts and much more. Today through March 5th, you can pick it up for $2.

I felt compelled to make a heritage layout when I first saw the preview of Memories Captured, so that is what I did. The photo is of my great-grandparents and five of their eight children.

We enjoyed a birthday party this morning for one of Janette’s classmates. It was a lot of fun.

Captured by You

It’s Gotta Grab It time at Gotta Pixel. This month’s color swatch is pretty fun.

Word Art World has five fun packs you can pick up for $1 today through February 14th. Initially, she was considering a project life type kit with these colors, but one of my fellow CT members suggested doing a Valentine’s Day theme playing up the non-traditional colors. Thus, Captured by You was born. Personally, I’m so glad she went with the love theme as I love it.

I made two love layouts. First up is a vintage photo of James’ grandparents. Since it was a photo from the 70s, I went with rounded corners on the photo and photo mat.

Second is a layout of Jessica’s school friend, Lana, at their school Valentine’s picnic/party last year. Somehow, I don’t think they’ll be having a picnic on Valentine’s Day this year. It’s amazing to watch Jessica and her friends grow. Lana used to be so shy around me. Now her personality just shines.

Family Subway Art

Posted on February 7, 2014 by Jennifer

Word Art World is opening her new store at Gingerscraps, which is really cool. I love the challenges they have in the forum. She has everything in her new store 40% off the first week. Now’s the perfect time to stock up.
One of her products that she is showcasing is her Family Subway Art. I was very excited when she first released this back in November as I thought it was a great gift idea. 1506525_10151917493792747_235594658_n
I made two versions, one each with two of the three background options available. The first one is the chalkboard style that I made for our family. I haven’t had it printed yet, as I want to hold off until I’m sure I can’t convince James of another baby. The second one I made for my brother and his wife for Christmas. I can’t wait to see where they hung it up in their house. The background on this one has an earthy look. I was so impressed with how the 16×20 canvas print of this turned out. I ordered it from Picture It on Canvas using a Groupon. I would definitely recommend printing your family subway art there.

Come back tomorrow as I have four layouts to share.

Sassy and Classy

Posted on January 14, 2014 by Jennifer

It’s Gotta Grab It time at Gotta Pixel. I love this month’s color swatch. Word Art World has five pieces for $1 each through January 17th. Sassy and Classy is definitely a girly kit, but I think it works great for heritage pages also.

When I first saw the kit previews, I noticed the typewriter and thought that it would be perfect for a photo of my Grandma hard at work. Journaling is adapted from a personal history my Aunt Karen wrote up before Alzheimer’s stole my Grandma’s memories. Journaling reads: In 1947 at age 17, HIlda obtained an apprenticeship at Kraftanlage A.G. with the help of her Uncle Rudi, who worked there as a designer. A civil enginnering firm, Kraftanlage A.G. designed underground heating. The training at the business school lasted about a year and then she became a secretary. She worked there until 1954. One of her co-workers, Ellen Stadler, set her up on a blind date November 21, 1951, which led to her future husband. Ellen’s sister, Martha Stadler, had a fiancé, Charlie Homoloc, who had a friend, John. Charlie and John were both US soldiers. Photo taken in 1953.

My second layout is for the Tempting Template Challenge at Gotta Pixel. The yellow of the kit wasn’t quite the same yellow of Janette’s dress, but I felt it was a good fit for these photos anyway.

I hope you’re having a fabulous week so far. I’ll be sharing more layouts on Thursday, so be sure to come back then.

Oh, Christmas Tree!

It’s Grab-a-Byte time over at Scrapbookbytes. Word Art World saw the festive colors and designed a fun Christmas kit. There are five pieces you pick up for $1 each today through December 15th.

I had a lot of fun looking at pictures and deciding what Christmas event to scrap. I chose photos from our annual Christmas party last year.
