Dust Bunnies Beware

Posted on July 3, 2013 by Jennifer

North Meets South Studios is in the Designer Spotlight over at Gotta Pixel. They’re giving away a super cute kit in pieces, a little every day from June 30-July 9th. Here’s a look at the complete kit. Isn’t it cute?

I made a fun layout about my homemade laundry detergent. The recipe for it can be found here and trial size version here. Journaling reads: A recipe on a blog called One Good Thing by Jillee estimated supplies for a year’s worth of laundry detergent was only $30, so I decided to give it a try. When testing it out, Jessica knocked on the window and said ‘Go,’ Janette watched her do that a few times and then started doing it also. It was so cute. 6/20/2013

Fun at the Lake Word Art

It’s Bits N Pieces time over at Scraps N Pieces. That means you can find a bunch of coordinating pieces all for the low price of $1 each. These prices are good until July 7th. Queen Wild Scraps put together a fabulous set of word art using Just for Fun Designs pieces, Fun at the Lake.

Road Warrior

Today, I’m sharing another kit by Connie Prince. It is part of the July Gingerscraps Buffet. From July 1st through July 5th, pick up the kit for $2 and the matching addon packs are $1 each.

I have a layout that definitely allows for time-stopping. This is Jessica when she was only seven months old. Journaling reads: “On our way back home, we stopped in San Angelo to have lunch with Uncle Chuck and Rose. Before putting Jessica back into her car seat to head to the restaurant, we let her “drive” with Daddy. She certainly enjoys steering wheels. After eating, we stopped at the playground across the Concho River from the Chamber of Commerce to let Jessica play.”

Vacation Bible School

Posted on June 29, 2013 by Jennifer

I’m very excited to be guest creative team member for Connie Prince for the month of July. I was able to get started a little early with this wonderful North Meets South Studios (Connie’s collab name with Trixie Scraps Designs) kit titled Vacation Bible School. The timing was perfect as we had Vacation Bible School at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church the week before last.

Here’s my first layout using this fun kit. It is about my volunteer efforts at VBS. Journaling reads: “This was my second year as the leader of preschool crafts for Vacation Bible School at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church. My two helpers, McKenna and Rachel (middle school students), and I would take our tote bin with the days craft from classroom to classroom. During our break we would do prep work for a future craft or finish up the crafts (like apply the contact paper to make the placemats water resistant). On the last day, we distributed the Everyone Fun Fair bags filled with all the crafts.”

I have plans to do a layout with pictures of Jessica, but I’m hoping that I can acquire the group photo they took electronically.

True Patriot Love

Posted on June 28, 2013 by Jennifer

July 1st is Canada’s birthday and we want to celebrate it with a new kit, True Patriot Love!

This is a gigantic collaboration that was contributed to by the four Canadian designers at Scraps N Pieces: Marie H Designs, Mommy Made This, Queen Wild Scraps, and True North Scraps. This is probably one of the best collabs I have ever seen in my life!

Wait? Are you saying you aren’t Canadian, so why should you be interested? Be interested my friend. You still need this kit! We used colours appropriate for other nationalities to show their pride as well. We have even included some stars to match the American flag. And what about that vacation you took to Canada last summer? Or your trip to Epcot’s Canada Pavilion in Walt Disney World? We have you covered!

When you see what our Creative Teams have done with this kit, most of whom are not Canadian, you will agree that no matter what your nationality is … you need this kit!

What’s included that is so amazing, you are wondering? WELL!

90 absolutely fabulous elements

36 beautiful patterned papers

7 very rich cardstocks

7 glitter papers

2, yes 2! full unique alphas

a full 4 pack of templates in .png, .psd, .tiff, .page and .pack formats

6 great journaling cards

a fantastic map of Canada and all the provinces and territories

patriotic word arts

beautiful clusters

Whew! Told ya it was big!

Despite it’s enormous size, we have kept it very affordable. Can you believe you get all that for only $9.99?!! On top of that already amazingly low price, we have discounted it further for its first week in stores, by an additional 30%! Where are you going to find a bargain like this again?

I would like to show off the layouts I made using True Patriot Love. The first is a two-page spread for the Canadian Rockies album I’m making for my parents. This will be the first two pages for the album and even though I’m almost finished, I needed to go back to the beginning. I either needed to make a page 4 pictureless layout, so there wouldn’t be an empty spot due to the next two pages needing to be side by side, or combine the first three layouts into two. I decided to combine. I really like how it turned out and I was able to incorporate the fun Vancouver Then and Now article from their Rocky Mountaineer Mile Post Newspaper.

Here’s a close-up of both the left and right sides.

These next two layouts are from a trip James and I took for a little getaway as he had to make a trip to Rochester for work and I arrived at the end of his work days. The first one will be the cover page of the album. I have so many vacation albums that just have a few pages done, who knows when I’ll finish this one.

Quote: A tulip doesn’t strive to impress anyone. It doesn’t struggle to be different than a rose. It doesn’t have to. It is different. And there’s room in the garden for every flower. – Marianne Williamson Journaling on this one reads: “The tulips in Queen Victoria Park near the Maid of the Mist ticket booth were gorgeous. After stopping to take a few photos, we walked leisurely through Clifton Hill, trying to decide where to stop for lunch. We saw the sign for Crepe de licious and decided to check out their menu as we became fans of savoury crepes when vacationing in Tahiti. We ended up staying and James had a Cordon Bleu crepe while I had a Chicken Caesar crepe. We then walked back to our hotel to hop in our rental car to drive north to Niagara-on-the-Lake.”
