Teacher Cards

Posted on August 27, 2011 by Jennifer

Jessica starts Mother’s Day Out at Abiding Love Lutheran Church on Tuesday, so I wanted to make each of the two teachers a card for the first day of class. I started these cards at Lori’s on Sunday, but finished them up Thursday after going to the MDO’s Open House and meeting Jessica’s teachers. I had wanted to add glossy accents to the apples, but alas I haven’t unearthed it from my boxes of craft supplies that I’ve already unpacked from moving.

I used Jen del Muro’s August Sketch for You to Try, which was so fun.

I’m also entering these cards in the Your Next Stamp Challenge #49, which was to use fruit as inspiration.

You & Me: Today, Tomorrow, Forever

Posted on March 8, 2011 by Jennifer

James and I recently celebrated our seventh anniversary. And to think, if we had gotten married on February 29th like James had jokingly suggested, we wouldn’t have celebrated this year.  We didn’t really do anything on our anniversary, but we did recently go to San Francisco so I think that counts. He picked out a roller-coaster of love card for me. Cards are the one thing I require for special dates.

This is the card I made James. I used blue and gray, since James is a fan of blue and black. I used the Mojo Monday Sketch 180 that came out on our anniversary. I already had the image colored and the sentiment printed out, so I put it together during Jessica’s nap that day.

I’m entering this card in a few challenges:

  • Meljen’s Designs Challenge #48 to create along the theme lines of “U R Such an Animal”
  • Stamp Something’s March Digi Day, both my image and the sentiment are digi-stamps
  • Your Next Stamp Challenge 37 to use the color blue

Anniversary Card for James

Stamps: Meljen’s Designs Bunny Love; Ginger’s House You (sentiment)
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Pacific Point, Basic Gray
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Walk in the Park
Ink: Dell printer, Stampin’ Up Pacific Point (edges of sentiment)
Embellishments: blue brads, silver sheer ribbon
Tools: Stampin’ Up Scallop Trim Border punch, markers; Marvy heart punch

Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday and Just Because Cards

Posted on November 18, 2010 by Jennifer

Sunday afternoon, I got together with my friends Lori and Evalyn to stamp and gossip and snack. Evalyn really knows how to bring the goodies. I worked on a birthday card for my sister-in-law Julia whose birthday was yesterday. She is a dancer and dance teacher, so I wanted to use this Ballerina Hilda stamp, even though Julia is more of a modern dance kind of girl. I think she liked it and the gift when she opened it Tuesday while Jessica and Aspen played, not really together. I can’t wait until they actually play together. I used the awesome Sweet Stop Sketch #82. They always have such inspiring sketches.

Julia's Birthday Card

Stamps: Motivet Ballerina Hilda; Stampin’ Up stamp set of Lori’s (sentiment)
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Certainly Celery
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Paper Prints Certainly Celery
Ink: Stazon Jet Black
Embellishments: Stampin’ Up Wild Wasabi 3/8-in. double stitched ribbon; Making Memories glitter chipboard flower; sparkle gem
Tools: Prismacolor colored pencils; Stampin’ Up markers; Spica clear marker (on tutu); paper trimmer tool of Lori’s

This second card started out as a Valentine’s card to send to Operation Write Home. Their Valentine deadline is January 7th. However, I didn’t have a Valentine’s sentiment that fit, so I changed it into a “Just Because” card. OWH always needs that type of card. I used Jen del Muro’s Sketch for You to Try. I especially liked her take using different colored polka dot paper, so I decided to do the same. I used a sweet digi image for the Stamp Something November Digi Day challenge. I like how it turned out, although, I kinda wish I hadn’t used the two small heart brads.

Just Because Card

Stamps: Meljen’s Designs Bunny Love; Stampin’ Up Mini Mates (sentiment)
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Loves Me
Ink: Dell printer; Stampin’ Up Rose Red
Embellishments: white heart brads
Tools: Stampin’ Up markers; white gel pen

Thanks for stopping by.

A Few Sketch Cards

Posted on October 29, 2010 by Jennifer

Phindy’s Place on Paper Craft Planet is celebrating 1,000 members. Part of the week-long celebration is a sketch challenge. Here is my take on the sketch. I rotated the sketch to work with the image I chose to use and ended up putting the embellishments on the bottom instead of the top. I made it using the Hope You Can Cling To Happy Flowers Challenge, HYCCT11, so this card will be making its way to the MD Anderson Cancer Center for a cancer patient or their family to use.

This second card is for the Hope You Can Cling To Ribbon, Ribbon, Ribbon Challenge, HYCCT14. I also used today’s Get Sketchy Sketch #62, although I unintentionally flipped it since I penciled the wavy line on the backside of the DP not thinking that I should flip my pencil line.

A Happy Joyful Mousy Birthday Card

Posted on September 14, 2010 by Jennifer

One of my friend’s birthdays is this Thursday. So I decided to make three birthday cards: one for Amitis, one for my dwindling birthday card stash, and one for my Operation Write Home stash that is probably just about ready to mail out. I decided to use this cute little mouse image that I had picked up at the Paper Craft Planet. I made these cards to meet two challenges. First up is a Fab ‘n’ Funky Challenge #39 to do what’eva and it is sponsered by Meljen’s Designs, the designer of the image I used. The second challenge is a sketch, Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #76. Initially, I wasn’t sure about making a square card, since I prefer the A2 size, but it worked great with my image since I had printed it a tad on the small side.

Amitis' Birthday Card

Stamps: Meljen’s Designs PCP400MemberFreebie; Stampin’ Up Small Sayings (sentiment)
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Real Read, Cameo Coral
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Pink Flamingo
Ink: Dell printer; Stampin’ Up Chocolate Chip (sentiment)
Markers: Stampin’ Up Rose Red, Regal Rose, Garden Green, So Saffron, Barely Banana, Blush Blossom, Certainly Celery, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel
