Stamping with Lori

Posted on June 24, 2012 by Jennifer

Lori and I used to get together pretty regularly to stamp together. However, since having Janette, my Sunday afternoons haven’t gelled yet. I have taken Janette with me a few times, but I was never very productive stamping wise. So this time, we got together yesterday night after the girls went to bed. I’m hoping that our stampy get togethers become more regular soon.

I had two cards that I worked on while at Lori’s and finished up this afternoon during nap time, which was actually about an hour.

First up is a card for our good friend Aric’s upcoming birthday. I used The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge #164 for the card layout. I used a technique called Embossed Embossing for  Hambo Hoedown Challenge #71. I hand wrote the sentiment strips and I am going to stamp the inside with happy birthday. I am also submitting this card for the following challenges: Just Us Girls Challenge #142 which was an inspiration photo of a hot dog barbeque and Your Next Stamp Challenge #3 which is anything goes.

To the King of the Grill

Stamps: Hambo Stamps – Barbecue Man
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Ballet Blue; silver cardstock from Lori
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Summer Picnic

Embellishments: Stampin’ Up clear embossing powder
Tools: Cuttlebug Diamond Plate and Mosiac embossing folders; Stampin’ Up markers; atYou Spica silver marker

This second card is for our nephew’s 12th birthday in July. I used the June Sketch for You to Try for the card layout. Lori hooked me up with that super cute monster paper. It went perfectly with my stamp set. I am also submitting this card for the following challenges: I was inspired by Disney’s Monster’s Inc for Do You Stack Up Challenge #77.

Happy Birthday Human

Stamps: Technique Tuesday – Monsters Ink

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous week!

Hambo Design Team Call

Posted on September 21, 2011 by Jennifer

Hambo Stamps is having a design team call right now. For details, go here. I’m trying out for the team and these two cards are my submissions.

This first card uses Wee Henrietta Witch. Isn’t she a cutie? I also used SplitcoastStampers Sketch 350. I like the sparkle to the card even if I’m now covered in glitter. I also used my black atYou Spica marker on the embossed spiderweb panel. About halfway through using the marker, I realized I should have just used dazzling Versamark stamp pad to save time, but oh well.

I’m entering this card in this week’s Designed 2 Delight Saturday’s Designer’s Challenge to use a girl and glitter.

Happy Halloween

Stamps: Hambo Stamps Wee Henrietta Witch; Hero Arts ClearDesign October (sentiment)
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Lavender Lace
Patterned Paper: Stampin’ Up Creepy Crawly; the Paper Studio Trick or Treat Polka Dots
Ink: Dell laser printer; Stazon Jet Black
Embellishments: Joann’s Paper Craft Glitter Pastel Lilac
Tools: Stampin’ Up markers; atYou Spica markers; Copic markers; quickie glue pen; corner rounder punch; Cuttlebug Spiderweb embossing folder

This next card uses Banana Kid. Initially, I thought I’d do something fun like a treat bag topper or a candy box wrapper using a package of Runts since it has the little candy bananas, but apparently Runts is not made anymore. I checked both Target and Walgreens and then gave up. I used the Sweet Stop Sketch #126, although I forgot to do the starstruck spin, but it was a great sketch anyway. I’m going to be sending this card off to Operation Write Home, a great organization that collects handmade cards for troops to send home. And actually that it what today’s Hambo Hoedown is all about, so get to making a card or two.

I'm Bananas About You!

Stamps: Hambo Stamps Banana Kid
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Taken with Teal, Kraft
Patterned Paper: Stampin’ Up Sweet Pea
Ink: Dell laser printer
Embellishments: Stampin’ Up white eyeles, 1/4″ chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon
Tools: Stampin’ Up markers; Nesties Classic Ovals Small and Class Scallopped Ovals Small

Have a fabulous day!

Thank You Berry Much

Posted on August 22, 2011 by Jennifer

Yesterday afternoon, I went over to my friend Lori‘s to stamp. We try to get together once a month or so. I worked on three cards while there and will share one of them today. I need to add some finishing touches to the other two before I can share them. I actually added the finishing touch, the strawberry embellishment, to this card today. I made the strawberry embellishment out of some red felt and black and green embroidery floss. I wish I had some green felt to use for the leaves instead of the floss, but alas I did not. I think I might have made it a tad big, but oh well.

The sketch is The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge #122, which also added a spin of fabulous fibers. I think my felt strawberry counts as fabulous fibers. I’m also entering this card in the Hambo Hoedown Challenge #29 to use scoring. I scored the blue circle panel with a graph paper like look; although the cross scores are faint in the picture. In addition, there is the Simon Says Stamp Challenge to make a food & drink creation, which I think strawberries count as edible, except to maybe those poor people who are allergic to strawberries. One last challenge: Stamp Something‘s challenge this week is something to say thank you.

Thank You 'Berry' Much! Card

Stamps: Hambo Stamps Strawberry Kid
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Very Vanilla, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise
Patterned Paper: Stampin’ Up Play Date
Ink: Dell printer
Embellishments: Stampin’ Up 3/4″ Real Red polka dot grosgrain ribbon; homemade felt strawberry
Markers: Stampin’ Up Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Old Olive
Tools: Scor-pal; Nestabilities Standard Small & Large Circles

Special thanks to Lori for letting me mooch patterned paper and ribbon.

Have a fabulous day!

Birthday and Just Because Cards

Posted on November 18, 2010 by Jennifer

Sunday afternoon, I got together with my friends Lori and Evalyn to stamp and gossip and snack. Evalyn really knows how to bring the goodies. I worked on a birthday card for my sister-in-law Julia whose birthday was yesterday. She is a dancer and dance teacher, so I wanted to use this Ballerina Hilda stamp, even though Julia is more of a modern dance kind of girl. I think she liked it and the gift when she opened it Tuesday while Jessica and Aspen played, not really together. I can’t wait until they actually play together. I used the awesome Sweet Stop Sketch #82. They always have such inspiring sketches.

Julia's Birthday Card

Stamps: Motivet Ballerina Hilda; Stampin’ Up stamp set of Lori’s (sentiment)
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Certainly Celery
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Paper Prints Certainly Celery
Ink: Stazon Jet Black
Embellishments: Stampin’ Up Wild Wasabi 3/8-in. double stitched ribbon; Making Memories glitter chipboard flower; sparkle gem
Tools: Prismacolor colored pencils; Stampin’ Up markers; Spica clear marker (on tutu); paper trimmer tool of Lori’s

This second card started out as a Valentine’s card to send to Operation Write Home. Their Valentine deadline is January 7th. However, I didn’t have a Valentine’s sentiment that fit, so I changed it into a “Just Because” card. OWH always needs that type of card. I used Jen del Muro’s Sketch for You to Try. I especially liked her take using different colored polka dot paper, so I decided to do the same. I used a sweet digi image for the Stamp Something November Digi Day challenge. I like how it turned out, although, I kinda wish I hadn’t used the two small heart brads.

Just Because Card

Stamps: Meljen’s Designs Bunny Love; Stampin’ Up Mini Mates (sentiment)
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Loves Me
Ink: Dell printer; Stampin’ Up Rose Red
Embellishments: white heart brads
Tools: Stampin’ Up markers; white gel pen

Thanks for stopping by.

A Few Cards for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges

Posted on October 10, 2010 by Jennifer

I’m having a lot of fun with the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges over at Splitcoast Stampers. They had three challenges on World Card-making Day (Oct. 2nd) and a single challenge every day since then and it continues through Oct. 31st. There’s a bunch of great prizes. Plus, all the cards go to MD Anderson for the encouragement of cancer patients. I have two cards to share today.

This first card is for the Unsentimental Challenge, HYCCT03. I used the Mojo Monday Sketch #159. I was especially inspired by Wendy Bond’s take on the sketch, but unfortunately my image was a little too large to follow her take completely. I also used Mo’s Digital Pencil Challenge #52 to make a rainbow card. The design team had each been given a single color of the rainbow to use, so I decided to choose shades of pink (for breast cancer awareness) for my rainbow card. I am extremely pleased with how this card turned out.

HYCCT03 Card

Stamps: Mo’s Digital Pencil Between
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Raspberry Tart
Ink: Dell printer
Embellishments: Stampin’ Up  Rose 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon, Pretty in Pink brad; Maya Roads Velvet Fire blossom
Markers: Stampin’ Up Blush Blossom, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, Ballet Blue
Tools: Stampin’ Up Scallop border punch

The second card I made today for the Four by Four Challenge, HYCCT04 to make a card with four layers and four different embellishments. I used The Sweet Stop Sketch #77. The Sweet Stop sketches are all about layers, so I knew I could count on it for my four layers. I almost  didn’t have four different embellishments, but I added the heart twinkle sticker to the sentiment, so with that, the brads, the flowers, and the buttons I have four different embellishments. I’m not as happy with this second card as the first, but I’m not used to using that many designer papers on one card.

HYCCT04 Card

Stamps: Papertrey Ink Everyday Button Bits
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Whisper White
Designer Paper: Stampin’ Up Petals & Paisleys
Ink: Stampin’ Up Basic Brown, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Tempting Turquoise (colors used on DP edges)
Embellishments: Papertrey Ink buttons; A Muse heart twinkle sticker; Maya Road Velvet Air blossom, Stampin’ Up Pretty in Pink brads

I would love to know what you think. Thanks for stopping by to visit.
