Tell Me the Stories

This months Bits-N-Pieces was such a fun palette and theme to work with. Scraps N Pieces decided that since the theme was, Learning, Knowledge, and Wisdom that we would do a kit about stories from the Bible. This kit not only includes many of the favorite characters from those stories, but the colors are neutral enough many other layouts. So, we have a fun alpha, themed elements, basic elements, papers, and themed word bits. You can grab any of these packs for only $1.00 each for the first week.

I really like the bible story aspect, but I didn’t end up using it quite as much as I wanted in my two layouts. The first one showcases the group photo of all the volunteers for Vacation Bible School this past June.

Second is a layout of Janette playing with Parker, when we met Kara, Madeline (one of Jessica’s school friends) and Parker for an impromptu play date at the neighborhood playground. Journaling reads: “We met up with Kara, Madeline and Parker for an impromptu playdate at the Capistrano playground. Madeline and Jessica spent a fair bit of time searching the gravel play area for crystals. Janette and Parker thought the smaller slide was too hot, so they decided to toss/roll rocks down it instead.”

Lake Side

Queen Wild Scraps has a fabulous new release today. Lake Side is perfect for all your outdoor water fun. You can scrap all those boating, tubing, and swimming photos, plus there are enough non-themed elements to really use it outside the theme box. Lahni also created some fun coordinating journal cards. Eat Sleep Cache

I have two layouts to share today. The first one use both Scraps N’ Pieces kit as well as The Scrappy Cat’s kit. I chose to scrap a fun 6-hour hike we took in 2011. Journaling reads: Big Basin is only 20 miles from San Jose, but is a one-hour drive along twisty mountain roads. Mona and Alan picked us up from our hotel fairly early so we would be sure to arrive with time to spare for the 9:30 guided hike. After we arrived at the park headquarters area, we had time to explore around the 1930s lodge-style buildings built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. In addition to the park headquarters, they built the amphitheater and miles of trails. California’s oldest state park, Big Basin was established in 1902. Home to the largest continuous stand of Ancient Coast Redwoods south of San Francisco, the park consists of Old Growth and recovering Redwood Forest, with mixed conifer, oaks, chaparral, and riparian habitats. Elevations in the park vary from sea level to over 2,000 feet.

The second layout uses just Scraps N’ Pieces kit. I wanted to really focus on the pine cone. It’s crazy how small a redwood pine cone is considering how big the tree gets.

I was really excited when I first saw this kit. I still have a lot of photos to scrap from our January 2013 Disney Cruise, plus we’re going to Florida soon for a fun-filled Disney World vacation. I have 2 layouts, one of which is a double page, to share today. First up is all about the Pirates of the Caribbean. Journaling reads: “This was the one ride I had to ride since Pirates of the Caribbean is my all time favorite movie. I kinda knew Jessica wouldn’t like it, but we all went on it anyway. As predicted, Jessica wasn’t a fan. After fussing in the line Janette ended up falling asleep during the ride, which was good, since she needed a second nap today.”

Next up is a double page about the Jungle Cruise. Journaling reads: After the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, we headed over to the Jungle Cruise, where our fast past tickets allowed us to get on the ride almost immediately. Janette started off the ride still asleep, but woke up near the end. The animatronic animals were amazing! The tour guide was pretty corny. We all enjoyed ourselves on this ride.”
