A Wildflower Texas Tuesday

Posted on April 5, 2011 by Jennifer

Well, it’s still Texas Tuesday for a few more hours, so I’m not technically late, although I had grand plans to have my card made and posted by early morning. Life has been a little hectic house-hunting and packing, so maybe I will be forgiven. Today, the Texas Tuesday posse planned to showcase the wildflowers of this great state.

I used Unscripted Sketches Sketch #100 and buttons, bling and bloom for Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #105. I also made this card slightly bigger at 4.25×6-inches so I can include some photos when I send this card.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day.

A Pink Texas Tuesday

Posted on October 5, 2010 by Jennifer

Welcome to the first Texas Tuesday of October (Texas themed cards on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month). October is breast cancer awareness month. October 2nd was World Cardmaking Day. Put those together and you get some fun challenges for a good cause over on Splitcoast Stampers. My two Texas Tuesday cards were made for the Hope You Can Cling To: Bring in the Brown challenge. The cards are being sent to the UT MD Anderson to benefit patients being treated for breast cancer and their families. My Nanny got breast cancer  when I was kid and had a mastectomy followed by a brief remission before succumbing to the cancer. It is so important to do mammograms and catch the cancer early enough so that is easily beatable. Some one else I know found it so early that treatment wasn’t too extreme and she is now cancer free.

I decided to do Texas themed brown and pink cards and I decided to do two, because I had some difficulty coming up with the layout. Part of that difficulty stemed from the large size of the sentiment. On the second card, I couldn’t make the sentiment work, so I stuck it on the inside. Which do you like better?

A Boot-scootin’ Texas Tuesday

Posted on July 20, 2010 by Jennifer

It’s the third Tuesday of the month and that means it’s time for another edition of Texas Tuesday (Texas themed cards on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month). Today’s card uses two new stamps that I picked up at Scrapology when I went shopping with Kristy the weekend before last. I met the designers of the two stamps I bought (well three, you’ll see the third new stamp in use another time). I wanted to give the boot a weathered look, the kind of look that boots that see a lot of outdoor action have. Do you think I succeeded? I stamped the boot on cardstock, cut it out and then crumpled it up. I also used last Saturday’s Sketch for You to Try by Jen del Muro. Overall, I’m pretty happy with how this card turned out. I promise I will try not to use “dirt” colored cardstock on the next Texas Tuesday card or you might think Texas doesn’t have other colors.

Check out the other Texas Tuesday cards: Geeta, Libby, Mark, Betty, Tina and Shannan.
