Peas Be Mine

This is the second post of the day. See below for Texas Tuesday post.

I had hoped to make Valentine’s Day cards for our family and a few friends, but unfortunately, I ran out of time to make enough so I didn’t mail any this year. Oh well. However, I did make a Valentine treat for Jessica’s music teacher.  My parents took Jessica to music class yesterday morning since we didn’t get home from our trip until mid-afternoon. I apologize for the poor picture quality, but I didn’t finish the treat jar until the night before we left.

The cabinet above my refrigerator is stocked with glass jars that I started saving when I used to make candles. One of these was perfect for this treat jar. I used the cute Funny Valentine stamp set I won a few weeks back for entering the All That Scraps Weekly Wednesday Challenge and here I am entering this treat jar in ATS Weekly Wednesday Challenge #66 to make a Valentine card/project using non-traditional colors. This project also meets the requirements of Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #98 to stamp a card/project with lovin’ from the oven. I think my jelly bean filled treat jar counts, don’t you? A treat jar also meets the requirements of the current Simon Says Stamp Challenge to make anything but a card.

A Texas Tuesday Valentine

Welcome to Texas Tuesday. Today, I have a valentine to share with you. My inspiration comes from the beautiful weather central Texas recently experienced. My daughter and I went to the neighborhood playgound on Friday to start off the weekend of gorgeous weather (highs in the mid-70s and sunny). As we were leaving, I noticed the delicate blossoms of several rosemary plants. Bees were buzzing about them and the aroma was quite nice. Did you know that scientists report that rosemary can assist with memory and thinking because it has an antioxidant property that protects the brain? Jessica and I went back to the park yesterday and I snapped a few photos of the buzzing bees, planning on sharing one with this post. Alas, my photos weren’t quite in focus, so instead I will point you this gorgeous photo I found googling.

Texas honey bees were my inspiration. Valentines were my goal. I think it was a success. I used the sketch from the current wee Memories Challenge #41. The sentiment was printed using Word. This card meets the requirements of Creative Cowgirls Challenge #6, love is in the air.

Two Quick Cards

Yesterday, during Jessica’s nap, I made these two (well really three) quick cards.

The first card came together so easily. The flower image is one I had received almost a year ago in an stamped image swap. I actually colored it and the rest of the ten images shortly after receiving them, but I kept forgetting to use them, so last week I put them on my workspace instead of in the drawer. I saw yesterday’s Get Sketchy Sketch #71 and I immediately thought of this little flower image. The card came together so quickly and it turned out so cute.

Thanks for Making Me Smile Card

This second card was made to meet Sentimental Sundays Challenge #38 to make a winter card. I really wanted to enter this challenge because I would love to win the custom watermark/signature set that is being offered as the prize. My sentiment is actually one of the free ones they offered for you to use. I also used the OWH Stars & Stamps Sketch #52. They’re celebrating a year of sketches. That said, I actually made two of this card, one for me to use and one to send to Operation Write Home for the use of our amazing troops.

A Texas Thank You

Welcome to another round of Texas Tuesday (Texas inspired cards on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month). The card I’m sharing today was inspired by the first card Mark shared last Texas Tuesday. I also used yesterday’s Mojo Monday Sketch #174. I’m really really happy with how this card turned out. Thanks for the inspiration Mark and Mojo Julee. I couldn’t decide which ribbon to use, so I made two cards, one with each ribbon choice. Which do you like better?

This card also meets the requirements of wee Memories Challenge #38, for the love of ribbon. I found out about this challenge site from our Texas Tuesday posse leader Libby. This card also meets the requirements of  Crazy 4 Challenges #70, to utilize a “thank you” sentiment.

Another Thank You Card

Today, I’m sharing two versions of a thank you card I finished up last night. I’m not completely happy with either one of them. I think I tried too hard to meet multiple challenges. The first challenge is Jen del Muro’s Sketch for You to Try. This year, she switched it to being a monthly challenge. I like this better since her sketches are always super fun, but I didn’t always have time to play along. Now I’ll have a whole month. The second challenge is All That Scraps Weekly Wednesday Challenge #62. The challenge this week is to use snowmen. I think this might be where I tried too hard. I have very few snowmen stamps and none are sold in the ATS store, so I decided I would use DP with snowmen on it. Well, I only found one DP with snowmen, which looked great by itself but when I added it to the card, it looked a little odd, since only a few of the snowmen are visible. There’s actually two rows of snowmen on the DP, but you can only see the snowmen on the second row. Maybe I should have just used the punched out snowman from the DP and used a different DP for behind the C.C. Designs image. Oh well, too late now. The last challenges is A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge #134 to make a thank you card.

I do like how I picked the orange and pink colors from the snowman’s scarf to color Party Emma’s outfit. That turned out pretty cute. I also really like how I did the ribbon Party Emma is holding. The glossy accents really makes it shine. The first take utilized green for the ribbon (I had pulled that color from another snowman’s scarf), but I like the blue version better.
